Being a mom to adult children is harder than you think. You drift in and out of roles, nurturer to bystander, relevant to outdated, needed to nuisance. I feel untethered.
I did it.
I threw my hat (or my book) in the ring!
It’s tough competition & if you’re so inclined & you’re an SCBWI member, please vote for O’win & the Moon for the New York Division. Page 5 or 6

In case you forgot, we live on a planet where lightning turns sand into glass, dolphins give each other names, the ocean glows in the dark, and rain has a scent before it falls. You stand here with a beating heart, a steady moon above, and a world quietly, absurdly beautiful.
@kcollazo We had a huge beautiful one in front of our house over 40 years ago and then a disease took ALL of them out on the whole island. There are scattered ones here and there but I miss them.
A while back, subbed to an agent, wants to see more, send more, let’s take a call, set up call, call, chat, get disconnected, try to call back. They don’t answer.
Never heard from again.
I hope they have regret
every… single… day.
(No, I don’t think they think about me)
I totally agree. I met an agent, nicest person. They asked for my manuscript, I sent it. I never heard back. A year later after I self published, I contacted the agent again, with the query of a new manuscript. They read the query and asked for a full. I never heard from them again, despite emailing. So, yes tell me you don't like it, but don't ghost me.
Dear Publishing Industry,
Rejection is one thing, but when you ghost us, it hurts us even more. And when we're hurt, we are less creative. And when we're less creative, we don't make good books. When we don't make good books, you go out of business.
Sincerely yours,
Writers
@MaureenLangloss@MollyJongFast The thing about great libraries is not just the books. It is your body being in the physical presence, the embodiment of knowledge. Tactile, aromatic, musty knowledge. Artifacts of cognition. And how we pass on culture through time.

I came across a theory that AI is starting to make more mistakes because the internet is increasingly polluted with AI slop. The idea of AI cannibalising itself into obscurity is one of my favourite things ever. I hope it is true and I hope it becomes impossible to fix.
My kid's school asked me to donate supplies.
Paper. Pencils. Hand sanitizer. Tissues.
I pay property taxes.
My state has a $4 billion surplus.
The federal education budget is $238 billion.
And the teacher is buying pencils out of her own paycheck.
And I'm sending in Ziploc bags.
We fund stadiums for billionaires with public money.
We fund schools with bake sales.
And then blame teachers when test scores drop.
