"Don't be fooled by disingenuous "straw man" binaries" is a little long for a bumper sticker, but I do think it's a pretty solid approach to science (and...life).
When homes are densely packed in alignment with the direction of strong fire-season winds, it is nearly almost impossible to cut enough brush to make the homes defensible. Fire burns from house to house, no longer a 'brush fire'.
A neighborhood in the path of #PallisadesFire. 1/4
Never a good sign when the wx stations start to spike and go offline. Good indication that fire has made it deep into the WUI in N #Altadena. Also matches up with cores of high reflectivity on radar. #EatonFire
#MountainFire UPDATE:
The fire has crossed Highway 118 and is now impacting the Camarillo Heights area. Evacuation orders are in effect, and we urge residents to follow these orders for their safety. Several individuals have been injured and transported to local hospitals. Numerous structures are currently threatened.
Due to extreme wind conditions, fixed-wing aircraft are unable to assist in firefighting efforts. Ground crews, helicopters and mutual aid resources are actively working to protect lives and property.

🔥📷 Two of our local Incident Meteorologists sent us these pictures of the fire plumes on the Lava, Boulder, Goat, and Bulldog fires. I think they speak for themselves. Stay safe if you're near any of these fires, updates are likely coming rapidly! #idwx
(1/3) Very visible pyrocumulus cloud this afternoon. Fires can burn so hot that the rising hot air can create its own weather.
This looks to be from one of the fires in the west central mountains that’s burning very aggressively. The smoke is even visible on radar imagery.
Okay #FireWx folks what new name do we come up with this year? Three headed #pyroCb convective complex continues tonight in central Oregon due to Shoe Fly, Rail Ridge, and Wiley Flat fires. Pyro-MCS??
Another day of active fire growth in #Idaho linked to the increasing southerly flow preceding a trough moving into Oregon and Northern California. Some "filthy" looking #pyroCu.
Tonight's satellite imagery is a sobering one. Dozens of hot spots (red) from the larger wildfires are being detected from GOES-18 this evening. Many of these fires are from recent lightning. #IDwx#ORwx#WAwx#CAwx
@cartermurphy218@wrighthydromet@Weather_West There have been only 6 years since '01 (as far as data goes back) where Tuolumne did *not* drop below 31F in July. Most years it happens a few times.
Like last summer, a vast sea of #wildfire#smoke from numerous large conflagrations in western Canada is moving SEward into U.S. following record heat. Unlike last year, however, there are now also numerous large smoke plumes from fires in Western U.S.--especially eastern Oregon.
🔥⚡️Pyrocumulus have once again formed from the #FallsFire north of Burns, Oregon. Several lightning strikes have been detected by satellite over the last hour. #orwx
