@HabsChronicle Example would be offer sheet Bedard 20 million for one year, with a verbal extension agreed upon at 12 million for 5 years. The idea is it becomes a 80 million 6 year deal in aggregate
@HabsChronicle It would be risky but I would sign a 1 year extremly high 20+ AAV to one of the high end RFAs, with an team friendly extension agreed in details. Risky as the player could take QO forcing you to either dont Qualify or pay him ridiculous 1 year deals until he is a UFA
@ivandemigoal I feel like the bigger change is it just makes the idea of offer sheeting stars more normalized. Forces teams to reckon with the threat of an offer sheet as a genuine possiblitiy
@domluszczyszyn I’m curious have you plugged into your model how the Olympic teams would be expected to perform in the NHL? Would be interested to see the probabilities and expected results
@icenineleafs As someone who isn't a Leafs fan Grebyenkin dosen't seem like much. Everyone loves their guys but in time I think you'll forget ever being so caught up on him. The second year of Laughton at 1.5 helps
@victoriastewxrt I agree, the retention and an extra year on the contract is key, Laughton at 1.5 next year is a steal. Definitley not a bad deal considering Beauvillier went for a 2nd rounder
