Just as we regulate planes, cars, and medicines, we need safeguards that help us realize AI's incredible potential while reducing the risks. They won’t eliminate every harm, but they can help prevent misuse by bad actors. We’re not where we need to be yet—and this deserves much more of our attention.
Mars may have just revealed a cloud-forming process never before observed in a planetary atmosphere.
Above Arsia Mons, winds lift moist air several kilometers in minutes, cooling it by ~30°C in just 10 minutes.
The result? Homogeneous ice nucleation. Water vapor freezes into ice crystals without dust or other particles to seed them.
Once considered purely theoretical in planetary atmospheres, this process now appears to explain Mars' mysterious 1,800-km-long cloud.
Mars isn't just another planet to explore. It's a natural laboratory revealing physics we haven't observed on Earth.
