A major step toward Plateau State’s agro-industrial future.
Governor Caleb Manasseh Mutfwang today flagged off the construction of a 500-cattle-per-day ultra-modern abattoir at Pwomol Village, Heipang, alongside a Veterinary Teaching Hospital in Barkin Ladi Local Government Area.
Supported by the L-PRES (Livestock Productivity and Resilience Support) Project, the projects are designed to modernize livestock production, improve food safety standards, create jobs, attract private investment, and unlock new opportunities across the livestock value chain.
As a key component of the Heipang Special Agro-Processing Zone, the ultra-modern abattoir will replace outdated slaughter practices with a world-class processing facility, positioning Plateau State as a leading destination for livestock investment, meat processing, and agro-industrial development.
Speaking at the groundbreaking ceremony, Governor Mutfwang described the project as the foundation of a new economic future for Plateau State, one that prioritizes value addition, industrial growth, wealth creation, and sustainable prosperity for the people.
From farmers producing animal feed to transporters, processors, cold-chain operators, and entrepreneurs, the project is expected to create opportunities across the entire livestock ecosystem while strengthening Plateau’s position as a hub for agricultural transformation.
This is more than the groundbreaking of an abattoir,it is the laying of a foundation for jobs, investment, food security, and economic growth in Plateau State.

Transforming transportation, improving livelihoods, and making daily commuting more affordable for the people of Plateau State.
Through the introduction of the City Metro Transport Service, the Caleb Mutfwang administration has taken deliberate steps to improve urban mobility across the Jos-Bukuru metropolis. The initiative has not only created employment opportunities but has also significantly reduced transportation costs for thousands of residents.
With approximately 9,000 passengers benefiting from the service daily, the transport subsidy has translated into substantial monthly savings for commuters, easing the cost-of-living burden on many households.
Building on this success, the administration expanded the fleet with the addition of 15 brand-new buses, bringing the total number of operational buses to 30 and further strengthening access to safe, reliable, and affordable transportation.
This is governance that works, connecting communities, creating opportunities, and moving Plateau State forward.

You guys I just came back from watching Disclosure Day at the cinema, and in the last scene when the alien whispers into Emily Blunt’s ear for her to broadcast the message to the world, it said “Get rid of Tinubu!”
After spending days studying Nigeria’s history, I’ve come to one conclusion:
Many of the problems Nigerians face today didn’t start with our generation.
In my opinion, some of the leaders whose decisions had the most damaging long-term effects on Nigeria include:
• Ibrahim Babangida
• Sani Abacha
• Muhammadu Buhari
Meanwhile, I often wonder what Nigeria might have become if leaders like:
• Murtala Muhammed
• Johnson Aguiyi-Ironsi
• Moshood Abiola
had more time or a greater opportunity to implement their vision.
The more I study Nigeria’s history, the more I realize that today’s insecurity, economic struggles, weak currency, and political distrust didn’t appear overnight.
They were built over decades.
What’s your list?
