First of all, voicing political views and striving for a better Australia shouldn't result in threats or actual violence. Second, regardless of views of the target of threats/actual violence, the person engaged in the threats/actual violence is in the wrong. These are fundamental to our values and I am genuinely concerned that our current government doesn't make that crystal clear, and that they would rather sacrifice a core pillar of functioning peaceful societies for cheap points. Concerned, but not surprised.

Attorney-General Michelle Rowland must retract her comments and apologise for slandering One Nation and its supporters while appearing to excuse the violent threats directed against them.

Millions of Australians support One Nation. They are not extremists. They are not dangerous. And ministers should not use language that encourages others to treat them as if they are.

No minister, especially the Attorney-General and first law officer of the country, should suggest there is any justification for threats against Australians because of the political party they support.

Labor should be asking why Australians are abandoning them for One Nation, not demonising those Australians for how they vote and putting them in danger.

Attorney General Michelle Rowland was asked if One Nation is dangerous.

She said “One Nation does not represent mainstream Australia.”

Then she tied the party to “extremist views including neo Nazi views” and called that “dangerous”

That is not a policy argument. That is a smear of everyone who votes for them.

One Nation is leading Newspoll.

They just took a safe Labor seat. Millions of Australians support them. They are not extremists. They are not a threat. They are voters Labor lost and now wants to demonise.

Pauline Hanson has death threats.

Protection has been increased. A man has already been charged with threatening to hunt her down. Graffiti in Bendigo read “Kill Pauline Hanson.”

And the Attorney General’s contribution is to feed the line that this party is dangerous.

No minister, least of all the first law officer, should talk about a legal political party in language that treats its supporters as a menace.

If Labor wants to know why Australians are walking away, look in the mirror.

Retract it. Apologise.

Then explain why you think millions of your fellow citizens are a danger for how they vote.

During this session with Australia Post, I raised concerns from local outlet operators like Kylie in Agnes Waters, who face increasing operational pressures.

Australia Post confirmed that while they are not actively cutting over-the-counter services, telecommunications companies, government agencies, and banks are driving down physical transactions by raising manual fees, pushing digital channels, or pulling services like Western Union.

Addressing the abrupt closure of the Coleambally Post Office, Australia Post explained it resulted from a licensee walking away without notice. To maintain local parcel, mail, and expanding financial services, they partnered with the town's pharmacy, a co-location model now operating across 82 locations nationwide.

I confirmed that ANZ officially joined Bank@Post on October 1st, bringing the total number of participating financial institutions to 81.

There is a need for physical over-the-counter banking in the bush. Albanese "owes it to history" to defeat #OneNation

After watching Anthony Albanese’s speech to Queensland Labor today, I’m starting to wonder whether he owes history an apology for the way he is prepared to rewrite it.
This was supposed to be a speech about Labor. Instead, a remarkable amount of it was about One Nation — because after One Nation’s stunning win in Secret Harbour, Labor is clearly getting very nervous. A seat Labor had held since 1989 is now One Nation.
And what does Albanese do?
He reaches for the oldest trick in politics: paint your opponent as evil, dishonest and dangerous, then hope nobody bothers checking the details.
“We simply must defeat them. We owe it to history.”
That is some extraordinary language from a Prime Minister talking about a democratically elected political party.
But then it gets worse.
Albanese says One Nation will “say anything and do anything to win votes”, “bend any facts”, “peddle misinformation and disinformation” and “turn Australian against Australian”.
Really?
Anything? Everything? Any fact?
Those aren’t carefully evidenced accusations. They are sweeping political smears.
And then we get the selective truth.
Yes, Pauline Hanson has made controversial comments about workers and workplace relations. She has used the word “lazy” when discussing workers she believed were difficult for businesses to dismiss.
But Albanese turns that into:
“They think Australians are lazy.”
That’s not what was said.
He takes a comment about some workers and turns it into an accusation against Australians generally.
#Then there’s the domestic violence claim.
Hanson made controversial comments describing domestic violence as a “two-way street”. You can absolutely criticise those comments. I certainly would.
#But Albanese turns that into:
“One Nation thinks domestic violence is sometimes a woman’s fault.”
Again, that’s a political interpretation presented as though it were an established fact.
#And then there’s the penalty-rate claim.
One Nation has a genuine history here that can be criticised. Pauline Hanson supported the 2017 Fair Work Commission decision to reduce some Sunday penalty rates.
Fine. That’s fair game.
#But Albanese presents the issue as though #OneNation simply has a current agenda to attack penalty rates — while conveniently ignoring the party’s subsequent parliamentary positions and the fact that the current federal law protects penalty and overtime rates.
That’s not a lie in the simple sense of inventing something from nothing.
It’s arguably worse politically.
It’s taking a piece of truth, stripping away the context and presenting it in the most damaging way possible.
#And then Albanese tells Australians that One Nation has “no serious answers” to Australia’s problems.
Well, that’s not a fact.
You might hate #OneNation’s policies.
-You might think its immigration policy is unrealistic. You might think its economic policies are terrible.
#But One Nation actually has policies.
You don’t get to declare your opponents’ policies “not serious” simply because you disagree with them.
That’s called politics, not fact.
#And let’s be honest about why Albanese is giving this speech now.
#OneNation has just taken a Labor stronghold.
Not a seat Labor held for five minutes.
#A seat Labor had held since 1989.
One Nation’s Luke Herdegen won Secret Harbour with 57 per cent after preferences, with most of the vote counted.
Suddenly the Prime Minister is telling Labor delegates that One Nation is a threat that must be defeated.
Well, perhaps Labor should ask itself why voters are moving.
Maybe people are sick of being lectured.
Maybe they’re sick of being told that anyone who disagrees with Labor is dangerous, racist, extreme, ignorant or dishonest.
Maybe they’re sick of politicians who promise one thing, deliver another and then blame everyone else when people aren’t happy.
