“How much Codex do I have left? What about Claude?”
It’s a small question, but it pulls you away from what you’re building. Check one tool. Check the other. Get back to work. Repeat.
Not a huge problem. Just a little friction that doesn’t need to be there.
That’s why I built NotchQ. 🧙🏼♂️
It keeps your remaining Codex and Claude allowance visible beside your MacBook notch, with reset times a click away. Something you can glance at, rather than something you have to go looking for.
The point isn’t to squeeze more work into every minute. It’s to feel comfortable planning your next steps, knowing what you have available and when your allowance resets.
Keep creating while the ideas are flowing. Find a natural stopping point. Take that well-deserved break before a usage limit chooses one for you.
Sometimes a useful tool doesn’t need to do something extraordinary. It just needs to make an everyday moment a little easier.
NotchQ is available for Mac in beta.

Do you regularly check your usage, or does the limit usually find you first?

I’m Dominik [22], I build with AI, experiment with ideas, and call it wizardry. 🧙🏼♂️
Looking to connect with developers and founders to share projects, swap ideas, and learn from each other.
What are you building? I’d love to hear about it.
⏬ Install: download the DMG from Releases, drag to Applications, open once.
It's unsigned during the beta, so macOS asks you to approve it in System Settings → Privacy & Security → Open Anyway. After that, it updates itself.
What you need for a percentage:
-> Codex: signed in on a ChatGPT plan with Codex usage limits, like Plus, Pro or Business
-> Claude: Claude Code signed in with Pro or Max
Free plans may not report one; NotchQ then shows "-%" and says why.
🐛 Bug, or it just works on your Mac? Tell me in GitHub Issues. Reports from Intel Macs and macOS 13–14 especially help.
Independent project, not affiliated with OpenAI or Anthropic.

@yichenlicoho@FounderCoHo Hi Yi, 🧙♂️
That sounds great, and well done. Let’s share ideas as they come.
How are you enjoying Google and the AI Safety discussions? I would love to get some insights into your perspective. ✨
The notch on your MacBook is the most looked-at empty space on your screen.
Soon it'll quietly show what's left: white for Codex, orange for Claude.
Tomorrow.
@i_mika_el The cool part: it stays right beside the notch even when an app is full screen.
So you can check what's left without leaving what you're doing.
