@EricLDaugh@notkrassen Before worrying about how things end for Canada, maybe reflect on how things ended for the US in Vietnam, Iraq, and Afghanistan.
@EricLDaugh A $2T deficit, 30% approval, and Iran already exposing the limits of American power. Yet you still cling to the illusion of a superpower. What else is there to do but daydream?
@DavidColetto LMAO, US is running 2T deficit and making traditional alliance as enemy with approval rate at 30%. Meanwhile Carney has 50 Billion defict and 70% support. If he has to shelve oil back to land and buy 5m Albertan out. US economy is 10x thus the 10x damage of energy disruption.
@WayneMathison In extreme case per ChatGPT, Canada might lose ~US$100–150B in GDP; the US could lose ~$150–450B in absolute terms. Meanwhile, US is already running a ~$1.9T annual deficit, while Ottawa’s is roughly ~$50B, together with Trump’s approval is around 33%
@nicksortor Apparently the U.S. Treasury Secretary thinks Carney is politically on the ropes. Interesting theory.
Trump: ~33–40% approval, ~57–65% disapproval.
Carney: ~66% approval.
Maybe before lecturing Canada about political reality, Washington should check the polls at home.
