taxonomy of larvae of Osmylidae

[XU Han @XuHanny]

@kelseytobin_ so cool！

[XU Han @XuHanny]

@rikiom 😄😄

[XU Han @XuHanny]

@rikiom Yes, I think so.
I am working on the taxonomy of osmylid larvae. So glad to communicate with you.

[XU Han @XuHanny]

@rikiom I can't find a clearer photo of prepupa. The biology of Osmylidae, especially immature stage, remains scarce.

[XU Han @XuHanny]

@rikiom the prepupa is without the long stylet.

[XU Han @XuHanny]

@BiTsukuBiol nice photo! This is probably the 3rd-instar larva of Osmylus hyalinatus.😄

If you've never heard of the telephone pole beetle (Micromalthus debilis), then you're missing out. It's life-cycle is about as extreme as it gets. No sex. Just weirdness.

Scroll down to find out what the very rare male does to its mum.

Insect of the day: Look at the similarity between these two very different insects. Left is the acrocerid FLY Cyrtus gibbus and right is the parasitoid WASP Leucospis gigas. There's something very interesting going on here (📷 Vitor Oliveira; Haris Prin https://t.co/kyWFkyMNvi)
