A thought for the holidays. If you want your kids to get ahead - let them READ FOR PLEASURE! Let them discover the joy of reading for the sheer fun of it, with no strings attached, choosing for themselves, losing themselves in imagination. Everything else will follow! #literacy
Big news! 2026 has officially been announced as the National Year of Reading by @bphillipsonMP.
We’re proud to join @educationgovuk to lead this national campaign to get the UK reading again.

“Go with what the children want.”
Next year will see a 'reading revolution', according to the National Literacy Trust, declaring 2026 a 'year of reading'.
Children's author Michael Rosen tells #R4Today how he thinks we can get kids to pick up a book.
I totally support the National Year Of Reading. We desperately need a culture of reading for pleasure to replace the culture of constant tests in schools, backed by proper government funding. And we need STORYTIME to be part of the school day, every day!

@playgoeswrong@mischiefcomedy we will be watching at The Duchess Theatre for the Sunday Matinée. It is my daughter Elisha's 21st birthday and My son Daniel is 18 next week too, so it is a joint celebration. Any chance of a shout out during the show please. We are on row C.
"It’s not that we can begin again. It’s that we must." Giving all children access to books. Giving all children positive early experiences with books: sharing wonderful stories; building solid emotional and cognitive foundations. Thank you for all you are doing @frankcottrell_b
EVERY CHILD CAN BE A READER. Give them the widest possible range of books; then let them choose freely & read for pleasure, with no strings attached. The books we love are the ones that make us readers – choice is a right all readers should have! #literacy

People sometimes say kids don't read any more. But as a children's author who visits schools up & down the country every week, I can tell you that if you give kids access to books, help them find ones they want to read, and let them read for pleasure - THEY STILL LOVE READING!!!
READING FOR PLEASURE has the biggest positive impact of any factor on children's life chances. So whatever else you do - please never stop reading books with kids & encouraging them to read. Never stop helping them find books to read & love. Never stop changing lives. #literacy

About ‘The Line They Drew Through Us’: Three best friends are born on the same day under miraculous circumstances. But by their twelfth birthday, Jahan, Ravi and Lakshmi’s lives are about to change forever. The British announce Indian independence and draw lines of Partition that tear apart the country, and the friends. One of them flees, one of them disappears, and the other is left wondering, could a miracle bring them back together?
