From Berbera to Bosaaso, all the way to Kismayo, Somali land is slipping from Somali hands. Ports are leased, youth turned into mercenaries, sovereignty exchanged for foreign interests.
A proud nation has become a battlefield. Is this what remains of the lion of the Horn?
Somali youth once the pulse of resistance now serve under foreign commands, both within and beyond their borders.
Their soil is sold, their purpose redirected, their worth diminished. When a generation is weaponized by others, where does their future begin?
Somalia, once a name that echoed defiance, now hosts foreign agendas. Not through invasion, but invitation. Proxy wars rage, and the country is reduced to a pawn.
If sovereignty is defined by control, not slogans who controls Somalia today?
A people of poetry, ancestry, and unshaken pride.
A coastline kissed by power. And yet, foreign hands dip into Somali wealth, while voices grow quieter and chains grow shinier. Will silence write the final verse of Somali history?
Mercenaries walk its earth. Foreign flags shadow its skies. Cities known for resistance now host foreign powers behind contracts and smiles. Is a third liberation a myth or a mission still waiting to be embraced?
Over 30 million strong, Somalia holds history older than maps. And yet today, it stands as a transit zone not for trade of goods, but for mercenaries and agendas. History watches. The question remains: did they rise or did they kneel?
The political class in Somalia has reached its lowest point! where integrity, ethics, and accountability have virtually disappeared. It is deeply troubling to witness such a collapse in values among those entrusted with leadership.
This raises a critical question:
What norms, principles, and standards will be left for the next generation to inherit?
#Somalia
Khatumo stands for hope and has become the stage for a strategic power play.
🟢👉🏿 Khatumo is not just another local project. For many Somalis, it represents the hope of overcoming secessionism, achieving federal equality, and building true national unity. But that very hope is now being deliberately instrumentalized, not to unify the country, but to consolidate political power.
👉🏿 Hassan Sheikh, Deni, Firdhiye, and Ciro, they all know the game.
They know the deals. They know exactly what’s at stake.
📍Firdhiye has long lost the neutrality Khatumo would have needed politically, especially since he publicly joined Hassan Sheikh’s party and became part of its founding display. What was once a cross-clan symbol of collective Somali hope, supported by nearly 100 % of the people, has now been sacrificed for personal alignment. Firdhiye has become part of a political project that no longer represents Khatumo’s people.
📌 Yes, Khatumo needs federal recognition, just like Galmudug, Jubaland or Hirshabelle did before. Which we 💯% all supported. And yes, it was inevitable to temporarily follow the rules set by Mogadishu. But that doesn’t mean surrendering to political exploitation.
🟤 HSM needed Khatumo, especially after sidelining Puntland and Jubaland. And Firdhiye failed to grasp the weight of his role. He entered the political arena like a schoolboy, excited to receive attention from his “teacher.”
🔻Hassan Sheikh has ruthlessly exploited this fanboy, like behavior and dependency, both politically and structurally.
🟪 What looks like a “historic moment” on the surface is in truth a calculated political strategy:
🟧 Weaken Deni (already partially done) and destabilize Puntland
🟦 Secure reelection in 2026 , with votes from SSC
🟥 Turn Khatumo into a new electoral base, potentially even hold elections in Las Anod under federal control if Puntland does not submit to HSM politically
🛑 👉🏿 But the real danger lies in the fourth layer👇:
It’s about contracts, resources, power, and control. Hassan Sheikh is using his position as president to create new power dynamics in regions previously controlled by Somaliland or Puntland, solely for his own political interests.
🟠 This is not about national unity.
This is about access:
to #natural_resources, #international_agreements, #financial_flows and #ultimately, #personal_reelection.
⚫️ Deni and Ciirro know this.
They’ve been bypassed.
And Hassan is now using Firdhiye & Co. to break into spaces where he previously had no access.
🟡 Deni and Ciro know they’ve lost influence over HSM, because they were not politically strong enough to counter him. Hence their current rhetorical escalation and online theatrics, without ever clearly telling the public what this is actually about.
👉 Puntland is not in danger, their business interests are. And those are now at risk of being taken over by HSM and Firdhiye.
🟩 Some traditional elders have fully understood this game and they faced a difficult choice:
They did not want to destroy their people’s hopes, many of whom are unaware of the backroom politics, but they also refused to become accomplices to political manipulation. So they stepped back out of responsibility for their communities. That is not weakness. That is political maturity. Respect. They recognized the trap that was laid for them and they chose not to fall into it.
🔸Meanwhile, others, emotionally swept up, have already fallen for it.
And while #Deni performs the role of victim on social media, perhaps he should stop wailing & start speaking honestly to his supporters.
❌ This is not about national grief.
✅ This is about the loss of personal power.
❌ This is not about principle.
✅ This is about control.
🟥 Khatumo must be protected from political misuse.
🟧 Puntland must reinvent itself through honesty, not manipulation.
🟦 👀 And we all need to take a closer look, before accepting a so-called “national consensus” that is, in truth, a personal power project.
👉🏿 This is my personal opinion !

Report. Sporadic Protests Erupt today in Boorama Amid Anti-Secession Protests. Awdal rejects the idea of secession.
Sporadic protests broke out early this morning in the city of Boorama, located in the Awdal region of northwestern Somalia. Demonstrators voiced strong opposition to the secessionist stance.
Eyewitnesses report that small groups of protesters gathered in various parts of the city, chanting slogans against the division of Somalia and calling for national unity. The protests reflect growing political tensions in the region, with concerns mounting over deepening ethnic and clan-based divides.
Authorities have yet to release an official statement, and no violence has been reported as of now. However, the situation remains tense. We are still watching closely and verifying the situation.
#Somalia's strong army disintegrated in 1991 due to poor leadership and bad politics. Since the establishment of the Third Republic, the polarized political environment has been the primary reason for the failure to professionalize the security sector. Politicians must recognize that security is a function of politics. Is this misplaced prioritization deliberate or a result of incompetence?
If Somali politicians wish to consolidate power and stabilize the country for a nation that wants to end its civil war through a negotiated settlement, they must first resolve political issues. Only then can they focus on building a professional, merit-based national army, which would eliminate reliance on clan militias, foreign forces, or mercenaries. Here is a 2023 report that sums up the ten security sector reform challenges in #Somalia: https://t.co/G5OD27K4Ag
The age of mercenaries and foreign puppeteering is over. Africa is awakening! From the Sahel to the Horn, nations are rejecting the UAE’s destabilizing interference. The era of division, exploitation, and silent looting is coming to an end. Sovereignty is rising!
The greatest enemy of Somalia is not outsiders but its own political elite. Corrupt, tribalistic, visionless, unpatriotic, and childish, they have done more damage than any foreign foe. Worse, they proud to be spies and stooges. Somalia needs a complete political overhaul before it collapses from within.

Because of the demonstration against Abiy’s visit in Somalia, peaceful demonstrators are shot and murdered. This is Hassan Sheikh’s legacy in Somali history.

Thanks, Mehmet Köse @esasadair. The relationship between the #Somali people and the #Ottoman Empire, as well as the connection between #Somalia and the #Turkish government, is a historical and strategic reality that cannot be denied. Somalia has a historical alignment with the Ottoman Empire, and our cultural heritage & folklore is rich with this narrative and connection.
With that in mind, how can we explain the significant trade deficit which in fact drains our country’s economy? Over the past ten years, this deficit has increased by an impressive nearly 600%. In 2023 alone, 🇹🇷 exported $1.6 billion to 🇸🇴, while importing only $4.1 million!
