12 million girls are married before the age of 18 every year. This is a serious problem in places like Tanzania, where girls are subjected to mandatory pregnancy testing at school and kicked out if the test is positive, leading many into forced marriages.

Makerere University Business School is honored to have flagged off the campaign to fight against sexual harassment in the various universities in the region. This comes after the Guild partnered with Nile breweries to promote the campaign dubbed "No Excuse for Sexual harassment"
Adolescent girls are vulnerable to violence within marriage, including sexual violence. In the rural communities , 70 percent of girls (aged 15-19) who have ever been married reported having experienced violence at the hands of a current or former spouse.

Girls (aged 15-19) account for 11 percent of all births and around 14 percent of all maternal deaths, with around 50,000 girls dying from maternal causes annually.
