From the lessons of al-Shaykh Ṣāliḥ al-ʿUṣaymī, he mentions that the Arabic language has 12 sciences, and whilst asking his students about which science comes first, then he mentions a fāʾidah:
For non-Arabs, they begin with al-Ṣarf.
For Arabs, they begin with al-Naḥw.
