VANGRID vs AXIS ROBOTICS🤖‼️
yeah, i’m going to do it since no one will..
i’ve decided to put the two most talked about Physical AI projects on CT right now side by side!
@vangrid_io vs @axisrobotics
at first glance, they look really similar.
and that’s because they’re both building around the same problem:
robots need more data.
but the deeper you go, the more different you see what their roles actually are.
now, @vangrid_io is focused on the world around the robot.
streets, buildings, warehouses, spaces, environments.
they’re turning everyday smartphones into a distributed sensing network.
by capturing real world spatial information and turning it into structured data that machines can understand.
@axisrobotics on the other hand is focused on what happens when the robot actually has to do something.
> pick this up.
> move that.
> complete this task.
> recover from a mistake.
its contributor network generates robot manipulation trajectories through browser based teleoperation, with those demonstrations validated and turned into training ready data.
to simplify it:
- Vangrid is helping robots understand the world.
while…
- Axis is helping robots learn how to act in it.
and that distinction is quite important.
because a robot can have incredible manipulation skills and still struggle if it doesn't understand the environment around it.
and having a perfect map of the environment doesn't help much if the robot doesn't know how to interact with what it sees.
that's why i don't really see Vangrid and Axis as direct competitors.
they're attacking different sides of the same Physical AI bottleneck.
@vangrid_io → spatial intelligence
@axisrobotics → manipulation intelligence
both team working together would mean richer data for machines to understand and operate in the physical world.
the future of robotics probably definitely won’t be built by one data layer alone.
machines will need to understand where they are, what they're looking at, what they can do and how to improve when they fail.
good competition on the timeline but if these layers eventually connect.. it’d be massive for physical AI.
are we see going to see a collab along the line?👀
And this is the way I look at the sky everyday thanking God for giving me more life, even if I haven't bagged that bags yet…. As long as there is life, I still have more time to run it up….Forever grateful.
