@BryanRolli BTS was such a pain point when I edited https://t.co/9p6yZ5VfQh. Any post about them did epic numbers and reflected where music's going, etc. But the RA board.. they really pushed back on our writing about BTS. For reasons I never fully understood, but seem obvious in retrospect
Oh please read this 💜
“That’s the part the Grammys should be mourning.
Because they had something extraordinarily rare: one of the biggest acts in the world genuinely valued their recognition.
And they squandered it.
Year after year, BTS showed up. Performed. Smiled. Brought the audience. Generated the headlines. Treated the nomination like an honor. Allowed the Grammy to remain positioned as something worth chasing.
Until eventually the chase became more embarrassing for the institution dangling the prize than for the artists who hadn’t received it.
And now, after BTS finally stopped running, the Grammys want to explain that they’ve created MORE opportunities for recognition?
Baby, the opportunity expired.
You had seven global superstars standing at your door believing what was inside mattered.
You kept them waiting so long they built something bigger outside.”

This BTS era is wild. They haven't given K-media, K-music shows, the industry, or the GRAMMYS one single crumb. A true CULTURAL RESET is happening right in front of our eyes. THIS IS WHAT TRUE POWER LOOKS LIKE!

holy shit I don't think people understand how crazy this is 😭😭😭 even when Kanye and Abel were beefing with the Grammys they/their label submitted their work 😭 to go out of their way to not submit arguably the biggest release of the year is INSANE
I don't think people fully understand the magnitude of this decision.
Some of the music industry's most respected producers, writers, engineers, and creatives worked on ARIRANG. A project built to the highest artistic standard. One producer even spoke publicly about hoping the album would receive Grammy recognition.
Then the Recording Academy introduced a category specifically for Asian pop.
And BTS chose not to submit.
Think about that. The biggest musical project of the year. One of the strongest commercial and artistic contenders. A project that could have competed across multiple major categories. It simply won't be in the race because the artists chose principle over prestige.
Moves like this don't happen often. When artists at BTS' level willingly walk away from the biggest stage in music, the conversation shifts because of what they refused to endorse.
