My first book ‘Lessons and Lace’ is real and it’s coming Sept 15! 🎩
A philosophical bio of Stevie Nicks (and cheekily named for “Leather and Lace”), L&L traces Stevie’s singular journey through the lens of her life lessons and words of wisdom 🌹🕊️🪄

A few things can be true at once: stomp-clap grew out of hipster culture BUT was generally abhorred by 2010s hipsters. Also, time to reshare my 20th anniversary essay on Her Majesty the Decemberists, which discusses the whimsy folk to stomp-clap pipeline

Ashley is correct. This confusion drives me nuts. In my book, I argue that the emergence of stomp-clap was a big factor in hipsters going all-in on pop, rap, R&B, electronic, basically getting as far away from a Mumford/Lumineers style as possible. https://t.co/NTUo1h3Ad4
look, i'm not humorless so i can get behind jokes looking back on the hipster era just as much as the next girl who spent too much money at american apparel. But people have GOT to stop associating that scene with stomp clap lumineers shit. it's inaccurate!
I’m not even a big Boards of Canada person, and I think the new album sounds awesome….. certainly not any more bizarre than anything in the experimental vein that would’ve gotten a 10/10 20 years ago. Don’t you ppl remember The Books?

If we’re doing 90s parody nostalgia let’s get everybody talking about Drop Dead Gorgeous again. “My mom never hid the fact that my dad chose his career over us. What was it she always said?” “‘Once a carnie, always a carnie.’”
