The secret recipe of India’s Got Latent was that it was a show of losers.

Contestants so bad at their craft or so egoistic, that nobody felt bad roasting them, judges were struggling people who were also funny, weirdos you could make fun of. It was a pretty irreverent vibe.

Then Netflix came onboard, and probably the makers of this thought of making this India’s got Talent. And it started inviting winners. High profile celebs, with a carefully curated image. Even the contestants were picked who could sing well, do stuff well. People with already a large fan following on Instagram. People who were self aware. Then it became difficult to make fun of this ensemble. It started getting awkward.

High profile celebs need tutoring to be funny, they need jokes fed to them, so they roast Samay with an FIR/Supreme court/Kashmiri Pandit joke almost as a gag reflex. It stopped being funny one season ago.

The show still survives due to the quick wit of Samay Raina. Everything else is dragging it down.

A common argument a lot of normies throw is at least CJP is raising the right issues, they are showing the real picture, so even if they are AAPiyas what’s the harm.

This is a fair argument prima facie, but the issue is such protest is selective, had they been equally outraged by the issues around the country, it would have made sense. But they are safely avoiding states where the current govt doesn’t rule. The excuses are juvenile. It shows these issues are just a means to an end, that’s undemocratic regime change. Nepal & Bangladesh had issues too, but the issues were sharpened to establish anarchy.

The ruling govt should get its act together, fix the ground level issues, else the vultures are waiting.

Imagine a workplace, where you reach at 11am, pour yourself a cup of coffee, reach your desk, then you signal your entire team, they start shouting & sloganeering on the floor. No! You need education, a bit of self-respect that is contrary to your acquired belief that you are inferior in brain and, of course, a bit of logic that inferior teachers breed more inferior students, eventually killing the system.

Just think, an institution already at half its potential because of 50% reservations, aided by another 50% of undeserving teachers, where the hell will it stop? This will bring down the potential to at least 25%, given those who don't know would either teach shit or don't teach at all.

Ruchika Singh and her family have been on the run since her abusive video went viral. Now an FIR too has been registered against her under Sec 352, 353(1), and 356(1).

People her age would do well to learn a fundamental lesson from this. Crowd dynamics can grant a false sense of empowerment, making it easy to break the law when surrounded by a cheering audience, but the consequences are borne individually. So always think carefully before letting impulse take over.

Was a fleeting moment of applause from a small crowd worth risking a future? In my view, she needs psychiatric counseling far more than a legal action. But regardless of what I think, the consequences are here, and I’m sure she’s finally realizing the true cost of those few moments of clout.
