It's been a very busy few months for the YATH UWSU. The team recently took delivery of a new piece of sonar equipment that will be a great new asset to UWSU when searching difficult underwater environments
Lots of seals seen at Flamborough head today by UWSU officers searching for a missing person. Many are young pups and likely resting from recent heavy seas. Please don't approach resting seals, this can cause them great distress. Adult seals will defend pups aggressively.
Split team today. Half UWS officers were in York continuing a boat search as part of a missing person enquiry for @NYorksPolice. The other UWS officers were in the area of Flamborough Headland, assisting @Humberbeat with searches for a further reported missing person.
The River Calder is in high flow and has risen in parts over a metre in 24 hours covering riverbank footpaths. YATH UWSU officers are continuing searches along the Calder for @WestYorksPolice as part of missing person enquiries.

UWS officers were in the @syptweet area today checking local lakes after the chilly overnight temperatures. Although even larger bodies of water may appear frozen, they are not safe to walk on. Stay safe, keep off the ice π§
YATH UWSU had police divers and kayaks operating on the River Aire and River Wharfe over the past few days for missing person enquiries on behalf of @WestYorksPolice. Many thanks to the local residents for the warm drinks provided on very cold days, much appreciated π
YATH UWSU continue with the search on the River Aire as part of missing person enquiries with @WestYorksPolice. The Aire has been in heavy flood over the past several days. Walkways around the river are becoming accessible again but are muddy and slippy. Take care on riverbanks.
