@Kyangs_Thang@BadWxStations You can request tmax data for station on iraq agreometeo website. I didnt see basra airport or hussen but there are 4 station that are within the basra state/governorate. I did for one station ill have to wait
@BadWxStations I found an important station that might be compromised. Mitribah, Kuwait hold the official record of 54. However, the issue is the temperature sensor is meters away from a wall. The wall area is 55m x 65m and the weather station is in the corner.
@Kyangs_Thang@BadWxStations Sulaibya is hotter than Ahvaz day to day slightly. Ahvaz managed 53.7 which is only 0.1 more than Sulaibyas 53.6 but Sulaibya also reached 53.0+ 3 times alone 2007-2022, Ahvaz reached 54 rounded in 1960 and then Ahvaz max was 52.2 from 1960 to 2017 and than 2017 it reached 53.7.
@Kyangs_Thang@BadWxStations Sulaibya 56m asl is probably the hottest clean station in the middle east or Basra at sea level (though i dont know how clean basra but i assume it is clean). In avg daily tmax 2011-2021 Mitribah beats Sulaibya by 1 degree 48 vs 49 which is a red flag
@Kyangs_Thang@BadWxStations Yes southeasterly. Even on dry days with northwest winds Mitribah is always 1 degree hotter than the closest station Jal Aliyah. Mitribah still is the hottest station we just havent seen that type of heat wave since 2020 that seperartes Mitribah and Sulaibya from the rest.
@Kyangs_Thang@BadWxStations The nearby station Jal Aliyah has a lower long term avg also because it gets more southwesterly sea breaze at times but even at same dryness and nw winds its still cooler by 1 degree.
@Kyangs_Thang If you have an i phone which i dont it shows you the exact temperature every few minutes almost live on the app so if you have time you can catch the tmax. In july 2017 Mitribah had 20 days 50.0 or above nothing in Pakistan has come close
@Kyangs_Thang@ThierryGooseBC With the 2 Basra stations the difference is definitely caused by uhi in tmins. With Kuwait city and airport it might also be that city is more coastal so it has higher tmins
@ZdenekNejedly@ZdenekNejedly Mitribah station is unreliable it has a wall on 2 sides of the weather station instead of fence and the wall is just meters away from the sensor. Mitribah always runs 1-2 degrees hotter than a station only 30km only during the day because the sun shines on the wall
@Kyangs_Thang@ThierryGooseBC@BadWxStations But most stations that are inside of walls are usually in the middle of the square. The Mitribah one is in the corner of the walls and the sensor is only a few meters away from them because of it
