Women Saudi in 70s

“Currently, I am in Saudi Arabia, 16 years old, and forced to wear the niqab since I was 11. Many girls are in the exact same situation as me, whether they are adults or minors, and we cannot take it off due to societal pressure, family pressure, and the threat of punishments, persecution, and ostracization. All I wish for is simply to feel the wind on my face, to be able to wear a color other than black without facing any kind of hatred. This is why we strive for a law that bans this coercion, but our voices won't reach far because men are trying hard to fight us. We need people like you to speak up about this and make it a global issue. Please help us 🙏🏻”
“Thank you for taking Saudi women seriously and for giving space to voices that often cannot speak safely in public. If you speak about us tomorrow, please remember that behind every anonymous message is a real woman or girl who may be afraid of punishment, rejection, or losing her family simply for wanting control over her own face and clothing.
For many of us, this is not an abstract debate about fabric. It is about identity, dignity, childhood, fear, and the right to make a personal choice without coercion. Some girls are made to cover their faces from a very young age and grow up believing they have no safe way to say no.
Please keep sharing our testimonies while protecting our identities. Tell people that Saudi women themselves are speaking, even when doing so carries a real personal cost. We need our experiences to be heard, not spoken over. Thank you for listening. 🤍
