To suggest that Peter Obi’s savings first approach may not lead to wealth creation is ridiculous at best. Countries like China have and continue to prioritize savings to this day. Middle Eastern and some European ones continue to grow their productivity and wealth on the back of strong savings via wealth funds

He did an interview with CNBC about 8 years ago that explained his plan to use the $150m he saved in Anambra as the basis for debt leverage that would have been invested in development that would have lead to wealth creation.

Savings is the basis of wealth creation. With strong savings, a country has significant leverage to access cheap debt; which can be used enhance development via investments in education, well being of citizens, infrastructure and innovation.
