Linus Torvalds has made his stance on AI pretty clear: the Linux kernel isn’t against AI.
During a discussion on the Linux kernel mailing list, Torvalds said developers are free to use AI if it helps them. In his view, AI is just another tool, and what really matters is the quality of the work.
> “Linux is not one of those anti-AI projects, and if somebody has issues with that, they can do the open-source thing and fork it. Or just walk away.”
He also said AI has already proved its value:
> “AI is a tool, just like other tools we use. And it’s clearly a useful one.”
> “It may not have been that ‘clearly’ even just a year ago, but it’s no longer in question today.”
Torvalds also pushed back against people trying to stop others from using AI:
> “We’re not forcing anybody to use it, but I will very loudly ignore people who try to argue against other people using it.”
> “This is NOT some kind of ‘social warrior’ project, never has been, and never will be.”
@Z0rcey@JobsNowPR There is no evidence that workers are replaced by H1B visas. Microsoft corp has to file these visas not the Xbox subsidiary. So you are rights the people who got laid off deserved to be laid off. The H1B stuff is fake news
@harrison0246@josueGu59305652 It's a retarded man that wants to be a woman and in their disillusion cannot write a sentence. I blocked that person from showing up in my timeline
@atmoio The problem with "tech" influencers. Sensationalizing, misinformation, mind-reading. Never coding never engaging with the new technology just fearmongering. I am blocking you so I never see you from my timeline again
@timsoret@Kimie_boiee You’ve been arguing for 2 days now and people have proved you wrong again and again. You are also assuming this is the final shooting for this scene which may not even be the case. Swallow your pride!
@ThePrimeagen Nope, just means we were right from the start by not having a snooty outlook on the future and technology. But you came around, so you are ‘less’ retarded. Congrats, almost there
