@BarstoolHubbs 3/10? You’re giving them 2 free points!
This is a 1/10
García is a good add but is somewhat redundant to the only strengths we DO have
Then not only did we not address the other 10 glaring weaknesses, but we overpayed for ANOTHER platoon players.
The Boonie Platoonies
@Ian_OConnor Ian, you’re another titan of the industry, so please don’t mistake the comment. It’s directed to the content not you
But how can you reasonably justify this deadline performance for the Yankees? They addressed ZERO of their glaring weaknesses
What’s worse:
- Being a 35+ yo Yankee fan that remembers when this team went for a title every single year
Or
- Younger generation that has accepted the Yankees are just another franchise
@JackCurryYES No disrespect Jack because you’re first class in this business. But why bother?
There’s 67 minutes left to the deadline and this regime addressed zero holes
@incarceratedbob Lmao the Yankees are hilarious.
Bargain bin hunting yet again. Sure, it always takes two to tango, but every deadline they do less than the bare minimum and nothing ever changes.
I hate what this franchise has eroded into
@incarceratedbob My biggest gripe talking to any fellow Yankee fan under the age of 30 today. The Yankees USED to be the team pushing the envelope & going all out for rings
Now *NEW YORK YANKEE FANS* are crying foul. So embarrassing
@RyanPaganetti This is a great article and a great point but I’ll challenge you on one thing. I HATED the patriots (Giants fan) and all I ever noticed was they’d score to end the 1H and score to open the 2H like 75% of the time 😂
It was VERY noticed by ball watchers
@incarceratedbob Bob are you getting the sense that the Yankees will, yet again, go bargain bin hunting at the trade deadline?
Just trying to prep for if I should even pretend to talk myself into infusing the team with some life
Chris I know you couldn’t answer truthfully answer without putting your career covering Yanks in jeopardy but is it ever exhausting having to report on a team that is so self-deluded that you have to write pieces about how Austin Wells is “significantly valued”? Your work is great, the Yankees content is what’s nauseating
The beauty of the draft is that no-one is right or wrong just yet
But I’m dumbfounded at “HATING” this Giants draft haul
You pointed out that you don’t hate the players, just the priorities. But I’d argue these are the right priorities
I’m a planet theory guy, so adding Reese as a see ball, chase ball defender next to Edmunds seems to have great potential. Mauigoa, even at guard, is a specific point of need for the giants AND fits value.
I loved Caleb Downs and I think he’s great. But if Mauigoa is very good, he’ll better help the giants the next 5 years than Downs even if Downs is great (in my opinion)
Anyway, appreciate the analysis. Thats what the draft is all about!
I’m absolutely in the minority but I would love to extend Kayvon at a reasonable number
He’s unlikely to accept any deal right now cause he wants to increase his value, of course. But if at any point we can get him on a reasonable deal, I’m all for it
His splash plays have lessened but he is a rock steady edge defender and is low key a good run defender. Also, his positive attitude has never wavered. That feels important right now
Valid for sure. I’m also not gung ho about trading him cause we’re absolutely not getting anyone better than Dex in any trade.
Maybe I’m in the minority but I’d prefer the Giants amend Dex’s deal to give him a bunch of guarantees on what he does have left
I get that it takes two to tango but it gives him the security that he doesn’t have right now
And with two years left on his deal, he actually has kinda no leverage (?)
