Tiny Chinese context because I’ve seen a few different takes on this 😭 婴 here is still Ying, his name, not literally ‘baby’.

It’s kind of like someone being named Grace. ‘Grace’ has a dictionary meaning, but when you call her Grace, you’re calling her by her name, not literally saying grace. Same idea here 😂

What makes it soft is 魏婴 (Wei Ying) to 婴 (Ying). 魏 is his surname, so LWJ is dropping that and calling him just by his personal name. There’s no perfect English equivalent, but coming from LWJ, who has called him Wei Ying all this time, it feels noticeably more intimate and affectionate 🥹

So ‘baby’ is a cute way to describe the vibe, just not the literal translation haha. BUT if the romantic in you wants to read that little double meaning in 婴 and say he basically called his husband baby… you have my full support 🤭 Hope this helps a little 💗
