As part of a street medicine team, we've unfortunately seen a steep rise in xylazine induced skin ulcers recently. We've had multiple requests for xylazine test strips with testimonies from folks who are very scared about its rising presence. 1/2

Nakita and I were medical school classmates and both interns in New York City. Nakita tragically took her own life on May 26.

Why did I just almost shed a tear listening to this? Chicago is 75 and sunny every day for the next week (so rare), and this is exactly how I've been feeling. Alas, it's all temporary and part of the journey!

@DrStevenTChen Reading this is so saddening and yet so real. The cruel jokes can leave such an emotional impact, especially when there’s an obvious hierarchy in settings like the OR. As a student on surgery right now 🫠, I feel less alone - thanks Dr. Chen!

As a M3, I’ve seen more than a handful of questionable/cruel interactions between educators and med students. Having a malignant team and toxic learning environment are factors that turn students away from entire specialty fields! It’s so disheartening. 1/3
