I ordered food late at night because I was too tired to cook.

When the delivery driver arrived, I noticed he looked exhausted, as if he hadn’t rested all day.

I collected my food and was about to go inside, then I heard him say quietly, "Thank you, ma."

It wasn’t a usual 'thank you'; this one felt different.

I turned back and asked, "Have you eaten?"

He smiled slightly and said, "I will eat when I get home."

Something about the way he said it didn’t sit right with me.

So I asked again, "Be honest."

He paused… then said, "This is my first delivery today."

It was already past nine o’clock.

I stood there for a few seconds, then handed him the food I just bought.

He looked surprised.

"Ah, but this is your food," he said.

I replied, "I’ll be fine."

He kept saying thank you as he left.

I went back inside, drank water, and went to sleep.

And somehow, that was the most satisfied I had felt in a long time.
