The giant ameiva has a spectacular pterygoideus typicus (the bulging muscle behind the jaw) this pulls the back of the jaw down, aiding it’s powerful bite! It’s really fun processing all these #overtTCN @diceCT scans & I’m learning a lot about vertebrate myolgical diversity!
