@Abhinav_Pan @saurabhtop

Four years ago, Geethakka returned to her village in my Hometown Shimoga, forests of Agumbe with her young son and nowhere else to go.
Her husband had abandoned her. Her mother, the only person standing by her side, passed away soon after. Then the rains came and the small house she lived in collapsed.
But some stories deserve a different ending.
On Rahul Gandhi ji's birthday, a day that has become synonymous with service through the Bharat Jodo spirit, Youth Congress workers came together to build Geethakka not just a house, but a new beginning.
When I first heard about her situation, I knew we had to act. Together with our congress colleuge, we resolved to ensure that she and her son would never again have to worry about a roof over their heads.
Today, watching Geethakka step into her new home in Hosamane village was far more meaningful than any celebration. Along with the house, we handed over essential household items so that she could start this new chapter with dignity and security.
Politics has meaning only when it touches lives. Service has meaning only when it reaches those who have been forgotten.
On Rahul ji's birthday, there could be no better tribute than standing beside someone who had lost everything and helping restore hope.
This is the idea that inspires us.
This is the spirit of Bharat Jodo.
There is a memory I carry with me from my years as a civil servant. It has never left me....
Back then, I had just been transferred as Collector to Mangalore, a city then shadowed by communal violence and a menacing sand mafia. Before I left, word came that the Chief Minister wished to see me personally. It was unusual. Collectors don't typically get called in. I walked into his chamber with a knot in my stomach.
He looked at me, that familiar, unreadable face. Steady. Unhurried.
"Banri…" he said. (Come in.)
"Nimage ondhe kelasa… alli ennum communal aaga baradhu."
(You have only one job there. No communal incident should happen.)
That was it. No preamble. No politics. No performance. Just a Chief Minister, alone with a young IAS officer, telling him exactly what mattered. In that single sentence lived an entire philosophy of governance. one rooted not in optics, but in the protection of ordinary people from extraordinary hatred.
Fifteen days later, Mangalore erupted. Two communal murders, two communities, one city on edge. He called me again. Just as directly.
"DC... Do what is required. Take anyone into custody, even our party people. Don't bother. But stop this within a day."
To a young collector, those words were everything. They were permission. They were protection. They were political will at its most honest.
I have known the contrast too. Under a different dispensation, in a similar crisis, the instruction from the top was the opposite. Do nothing strongly. Let things fester. …That silence said everything about who governs for whom.
Siddaramaiah Ji was never that kind of leader.
He carried government finances in his fingertips and social justice in his spine. He refused to tour places that reeked of feudalism. He spoke plainly, governed sharply, and stood on the side of the last person in the room.
If there was one political figure I have genuinely admired, from the stage and up close, it has been him. His legacy is not in the schemes he launched or the budgets he read. It is in the kind of Chief Minister he chose to be when no one was watching. . On that quiet phone call. In the way he asked a nervous young officer to go out and keep the peace.
And now, as he steps back with the same quiet dignity with which he always led, I find myself moved. He has handled this transition with the grace of someone who always knew that principles outlast positions.
Siddaramaiah Ji....long life, good health, and please keep guiding us. The Congress, and this country, still needs the kind of moral clarity only you carry so naturally.
🧵 THREAD: The Day Karnataka Witnessed History
May 28, 2026
1️⃣ Some men fight for power till their last breath.
Some men walk away from it- with more power than they ever had holding it.
📌 Today, Siddaramaiah chose to be the second kind.
🧵 A thread worth reading. 👇
2️⃣
No Governor present.
No grand ceremony.
No red carpet farewell.
Just a man. A resignation letter. And decades of integrity walking through the door.
📌 Lok Bhavan witnessed something rare today- A politician who kept his word.
3️⃣
He didn't say it once.
He said it every single time.
"The moment the High Command asks- I will resign. No conditions. No bargaining. No drama."
Today, Karnataka watched him mean every word.
📌 In a country full of broken political promises-
this one hit different. 🔥
4️⃣
The Governor wasn't even there.
Any other politician would've used that as an excuse. Delayed. Stalled. Played games.
Not Siddaramaiah.
📌 He handed his resignation to the Special Secretary- and walked out like the statesman he is.
5️⃣
The High Command offered him a Rajya Sabha seat.
A soft landing. A golden exit to Delhi.
📌 He looked at it- and said No.
"I belong to Karnataka.
Karnataka is where I stay."
That's not just loyalty.
That's identity. 💪
6️⃣
Two terms as Chief Minister.
A political career spanning five decades.
The man who made OBC politics a force in Karnataka.
And when the curtain fell- No tantrums. No tears. No chaos.
📌 Just grace under pressure.
Just a lion's quiet exit. 🦁
7️⃣
Karnataka has seen it all —
Midnight coups. Floor crossings. Constitutional crises. Governor standoffs.
But today?
Today was different.
Today was dignified.
Today was rare.
📌 The office didn't make him great.
How he left the office did. 🇮🇳
8️⃣
Agree with his politics or don't.
Debate his governance. Question his decisions.
But pause- just for today-
and acknowledge what the world saw this morning.
📌 A man placed principle above power. Party above self.
Karnataka above everything.
9️⃣
History doesn't remember those who clung to chairs.
📌 History remembers those who surrendered them- with dignity.
May 28, 2026.
Write it down. 📖

“Rating nahi, haq chaahiye.”
“Insaan hai hum, ghulaam nahi.”
These powerful words from gig workers stayed with me during the Bharat Jodo Yatra.
Our Congress government in Karnataka has taken a historic step by issuing an ordinance that guarantees rights, dignity, and protection to gig workers.
These workers bring us food, deliver essentials, and drive us safely — in the heat, cold, and rain. Yet too often, they are blocked from their apps without explanation, denied sick leave, and paid according to opaque algorithms.
We are changing that.
Karnataka’s new ordinance ensures:
✅ Social security
✅ Fair contracts
✅ Transparency in algorithmic pay
✅ An end to arbitrary blocking
This is how technology should serve people — driving innovation and justice. Rajasthan showed the way. Karnataka has acted. Telangana is next.
Gig and platform work is creating new opportunities and reshaping work relationships. Workers’ rights must be at the center of this new arrangement.
This is our vision — and we will take it to every state, and to the nation.

Sudheer Rajbhar of Chamar Studio encapsulates the life and journey of lakhs of Dalit youth in India. Extremely talented, brimming with ideas and hungry to succeed but lacking the access and opportunity to connect with the elite in his field.
However, unlike many others from his community, he got the opportunity to build his own network. He understood the latent skill of the artisans of Dharavi and he created a brand that is recognised in the most esteemed corridors of fashion globally.
Chamar Studio’s success highlights how traditional artisanship and modern entrepreneurship can work together so that skilled artisans get a piece of the success they build with their own hands. While working with Sudheer and his team in Dharavi today, I underscored the importance of inclusive production networks that uplift skilled workers across various sectors.
I felt it was equally important for Sudheer to share his knowledge and experience with others so we brought our friend Ramchet mochi from Sultanpur to meet him and understand how design and innovation can transform his business.
I spoke in the Lok Sabha about how a prosperous India can only be built through “production and participation”. Chamar Studio’s success shows this model works - and I hope we can replicate such a model all over India.
