Iran has been under Western sanctions for over 40 years. And somehow they are producing some of the most sophisticated brick architecture on the planet.
Kaveh House, Tehran. A decaying three storey residence in a dense neighbourhood. Pargar Architecture did not demolish it. They cut a skylight through its core, wrapped it in handlaid curved brick towers referencing Persian masonry traditions going back centuries, added a roof garden, layered balconies and brought daylight into the basement through a deliberate facade setback.
The curved brick towers are not only decorative. They are load bearing forms shaped by the same logic Iranian builders have refined for generations.
A country whose economy is being squeezed from the outside is producing some of the most intelligent urban architecture being built anywhere right now.

The attacks on Farnaz Fassihi, one of four bylined reporters on our ground-breaking story about the plan to place the former president Mahmoud Ahmadinejad in power in Iran, are entirely baseless.
The #Pasteur Institute 💔😔
My grandfather donated the land to build the institute as part of the development of Iran’s public health infrastructure.
My uncle led it for many years.
As kids we would visit him & get our various vaccinations.
@Pasteur
This is not about the regime. Israel’s goal is to destroy ori past present and future as a nation.
One day we will try
@PahlaviReza for treason and for aiding & abetting war crimes.
On last night's list of Isreali targets was a major Iranian biopharmaceutical company focusing on therapeutic categories like oncology, cardivascular and narcotics. Tofigh was a high tech R&D hub not just a manufacturer. The damage is a huge blow to Iran's scientific endeavours.
The US & Israel hold escalation dominance in the Iran war. But Tehran seeks to shift a contest of firepower into test of endurance, wearing out defenses, raising costs & leveraging geography into bargaining power. W/ @ProfessorPape in @ForeignPolicy 👇

Previous aggressors who targeted Iranian academic institutions:
Arab-Muslim armies — 633–651 CE
Mongol armies — 1220–1258 CE
Timur’s armies — 1381–1405 CE
Ghilzai Afghan armies — 1722 CE
Removal of Ali Larijani and his replacement by Saeed Jalili at the SNSC is just another step in the 'hardlining' of the Iranian regime. Not weakening, but 'hardlining.'

You’ll see a lot more of this in the coming days. Iranian diaspora activists who backed the Trump administration’s war on their country slowly coming to realize that Trump has no interest in helping Iran or Iranians. He screws over everyone who supports him, always. 🤷🏽♂️
And just like that we are no longer a nation divided by left and right, we are now a nation divided be those who want to fight wars for Israel and those who just want peace and to be able to afford their bills and health insurance.
