I was honored to host @NTDNews at the Capitol last night for a viewing of UNBROKEN: The Untold Story of Shen Yun, followed by a Q&A panel about their new documentary.

The documentary details the efforts of the Chinese Communist Party to silence @ShenYun’s outspoken criticism of the political movement and how they treat people of faith. Religious freedom is an issue very near and dear to my heart, and I am grateful for these brave young men and women who are shedding light on the CCP’s religious persecution through their art.

The U.S. should be committed to countering the Chinese Communist Party's campaigns of coercion, intimidation, and repression against our allies and its people. Last week, the Senate Foreign Relations Committee advanced two bills I've authored to advance American national security and do exactly that. Both passed with bipartisan support.

The Taiwan Symbols Act is aimed at countering the CCP's efforts to undermine Taiwan’s global status.

The Falun Gong and Victims of Forced Organ Harvesting Protection Act imposes sanctions on those responsible for the CCP's state-sponsored organ harvesting industry. I am proud to have worked with @JeffMerkley on this effort, and it passed unanimously.

The Senate should swiftly pass these critical pieces of legislation.

Shen Yun, a Falun Gong affiliate, has been targeted by more than 150 bomb threats, mass shootings, and other extreme acts of violence since 2006. The Chinese Communist Party terrorizes and persecutes religious minorities, and its harassment and intimidation must condemned by all who support free expression.

My bill, The Falun Gong Protection Act (H.R. 1540), imposes sanctions on foreigners that persecute Falun Gong practitioners. The bill has already passed the House and the Senate needs to get this done.
