The people in the book differ a lot in how they structure their day, but most of them have dedicated time for work every day. And something I found very helpful is that even they feel frustrated all the time, just like us. It's encouraging and relatable in some ways.

I am enjoying reading this book: daily rituals by Mason Currey. It compiles the daily routines of the lives of many writers, artists, scientists. I found it helpful for me as a grad student since I also have lots of unstructured time just like these giants.

Recently I am editing my manuscript and have to fix some long & unclear sentences. Here are some practical remedies I learned from Vandy writing center:
a. Reorder the information, find the strongest claim and make that your central section.

c. If all else fails, make sure the surrounding sentences are relatively short so that the rest of the paragraph still appears under control.
I never thought about this before, a paragraph of long sentences does make me tired as a reader.

My latest: The larger the study, the greater the chance of nonsense.
Large studies reduce random error, but not systematic error. The bottom line: Always check whether the data can answer the question. If not, don't analyze.
