Youssouf Ndayishimiye and why data/video for African football matters.
The Burundian league had a full season of data on Wyscout. The standout player was a midfielder. He was signed by a Turkish club for $40k, a year later by another for $2m, and now $20m to Nice.

Surprising, since Mercury is the go-to bank for the US entities of many African start-ups, for good reasons. But not surprising since African businesses are often flagged/blocked, for no good reason. Time for an African B2B digital bank?

The main African tech reports show funding has ~tripled between 2020 and 2021. Impressive, but more to come, esp. seeing the trend so far in 2022! 🚀

Great to see the @CBKKenya thinking forward and starting to think through a potential #digital#currency. A lot of questions to answer, but a trend which can't be just ignored or dismissed. Engaging with the various stakeholders will be key.

@jodongo@jodongo there is probably also a question of time horizon since:
1. It can take longer to build start-ups on the continent (for now), so less start-ups will provide return within 5 years
2. It's early stage for the ecosystem, so the same graph may look very different in 5 years
There's never been a better time to be optimistic about Africa's tech #startups. We can't wait to see what #2022NewYear has to offer. #jumia https://t.co/IwIjHVTgwa
