The State Investigation Agency (SIA) has filed a 737-page chargesheet in the 1990 kidnapping, rape and murder of Kashmiri Pandit nurse Sarla Bhat, naming former JKLF chief Yasin Malik and four others. The probe says the killing was part of a larger terror campaign by the banned Jammu and Kashmir Liberation Front aimed at targeting Kashmiri Pandits and triggering their exodus from the Valley.

The investigation, reopened after decades, relies on witness statements, forensic material and past recorded evidence, marking a major development in one of Kashmir’s most long-pending terror cases.
