[Albert R. Ramdin - OAS Secretary General @SG_OEA_OAS]

It will be an honor to accompany Laura Gil @Lauraggils as she assumes the role of Assistant Secretary General of the @OAS_official.

Her experience, commitment, and vision will strengthen our collective work in defense of democracy, human rights, and hemispheric multilateralism, as well as our efforts to make the OAS more effective and efficient.

[Albert R. Ramdin - OAS Secretary General @SG_OEA_OAS]

I met with the Chair of the Inter-American Council for Integral Development and Permanent Representative of Saint Vincent and the Grenadines to the OAS, Lou-Anne Gaylene Gilchrist. We conversed about the work the Organization does on development and how to ensure it delivers real impact for the peoples of the Americas.

Congratulations to H.E. Laura Gil on her historic election as the first woman to serve as Assistant Secretary General of the OAS. It is a privilege to pass the baton to such a distinguished & committed diplomat. I wish her every success in her new role in service to the Americas.

Yesterday my @mfaftja team and I together with Ms. Jeanelle van GlaanenWeygel, the Resident representative of the @OAS_official in 🇯🇲 celebrated Pan-American Day 2025! We hosted members of the Diplomatic and Consular Corps, academia, students and citizens of the Americas for a celebration of our diversity, fraternity, solidarity and collaboration.
Jamaica continues to play an active role in the OAS, promoting democracy, human rights, security, and sustainable development throughout the hemisphere.
Of current critical importance, we welcomed the OAS' technical assistance to Haiti towards the holding of inclusive, free, fair and credible elections, including the introduction of national identification cards, training of staff, and the roll-out of supporting infrastructure.
Many thanks to Dan Dan and DJ Wham from San Andres for highlighting the Jamaica-Colombia connection and for teaching me how to play the Jaw Bone instrument! Thanks also to the #CMU for participating in the flag parade; to those Member States who presented amazing cultural and culinary exhibits; and to the young leaders incl Ms. Sareka Crawford of the @UWImona. Congrats to the students of the Lister Mair Gilby High School for the Deaf and Campion College on their award-winning art and poetry pieces.

Lessons from hurricane Beryl - Caribbean News Global https://t.co/5WGgpEFRl3

[Luis Almagro @Almagro_OEA2015]

The damages caused by #HurricaneBeryl have brought high costs to the countries affected, while undermining their ability to pay these costs. Financing for mitigation and adaptation, as well as response and rebuilding must come from international sources, from international financial institutions, from international financial resources. My words at today´s special meeting of the Permanent Council.
