What a week. Our CEO @SergeiSherman pitched Yolk at @saastr AI Pitch Comp – 400 companies, 2nd place, and a moment we won't forget.
Huge thanks to @saastr, every founder we shared the stage with and Yolk team. Grateful to be part of it.
For 100 years, nobody made a real estate agent justify their commission out loud. Then a jury did. 🏠
NAR settled for $418M. Add RE/MAX, Keller Williams, and Anywhere's settlements and the total tops $700M. Since August 2024, sellers aren't even required to offer buyer-agent commission on the MLS anymore.
Here's the part nobody's posting: buyers didn't stop paying. The commission just moved into the price as a "concession" — and in 2026, new lawsuits are already going after that workaround too.
The fight for the fee isn't over. It just changed venues. The reps still standing aren't the ones with the best script — they already know why they're worth the fee. 💪

@IBM 's "Hundred Percent Club" sounds like a nice trophy for hitting quota. It was actually a trap. 🎩
Thomas Watson Sr. started it in 1925: hit your number, get invited to a lavish annual convention. But before any rep could leave, Watson made every single one sign a pledge — bring back three colleagues into the club next year.
The "reward" for hitting quota was a built-in recruiting quota nobody wrote into the comp plan. (By 1948, IBM was printing 9,000 THINK signs a year. By 1960, 20,000.)
A hundred years later, sales leaders are still trying to reinvent "get your top reps to recruit your next reps." Watson just made you sign for it before the open bar. 🖋️

For 183 years, Wall Street brokers charged whatever fixed commission they wanted. No negotiating, no undercutting , it was the law of the exchange. Then on May 1, 1975, the SEC ended it in a single day. 📈
Every established firm did the obvious thing: raised prices, kept the steak lunches, defended the relationship. A little-known broker named Chuck @CharlesSchwab Schwab did the opposite — he stripped out the research, the hand-holding, the perks, and just sold trades, cheap.
Four years later there were 97 discount brokers handling almost 8% of all U.S. retail trading volume that didn't exist before "May Day." The guy who bet customers wanted less service for less money was right.
Every industry has a "that's just how commission works here" rule waiting for its May Day. 🔔

@NCR founder John Patterson built the first modern sales-management system: reps who hit their annual quota joined the "Hundred Point Club" and were ranked president/VP/secretary/treasurer by the order in which they finished; a leather-bound "Book of Arguments" gave reps scripted rebuttals to customer objections; and Patterson's executives did dawn calisthenics and horseback riding as part of the company's wellness culture. NCR itself began as a rival to the "American Cash Register Company," which Patterson had run before founding NCR. Formal sales-district quotas were established in 1900. #saas #b2b #sales
In April 1954, Brownie Wise staged "Jubilee," a five-day Wild-West-themed Tupperware sales convention in Florida, including a "Big Dig" where top-performing saleswomen in cowboy hats dug buried treasure (jewelry, a TV set) out of the ground. That same year Wise became the first woman ever on the cover of BusinessWeek, under the line "if we build the people, they'll build the business" — the profile credited her party-plan sales network with roughly $25M in Tupperware retail sales. 🚩 Feb 2000: a scrappy startup showed up outside Siebel Systems' own user conference with picket signs reading "NO SOFTWARE" and a red slash through a floppy disk. Confused attendees thought it was a real protest. It was @salesforce 's entire marketing budget. 😂 Tag the founder-brained friend who'd 100% stage a fake protest outside a competitor's own conference. #SaaS #B2BSales #TechSales
In 1968 a Lincoln dealer told Mary Kay Ash to come back with her husband. So she walked next door to the Cadillac dealer instead. 💅 A year later she handed her top 5 sellers the keys to custom blush-pink Coupe de Villes named after her own lipstick shade — the original quota flex, no husband required. 🚗🏆 Tag the rep who's earned their pink Cadillac this quarter. #SalesTwitter #B2BSales
📉 In 1990 @Oracle 's comp plan paid reps the moment a contract was signed whether the software shipped or not. The reps did exactly what the incentive told them to do.
Then the books got restated $50M lower and the stock lost 80% of its value : the plan design should've been fired first, not the sellers who trusted it. 🛑 Tag the RevOps person redesigning comp plans this quarter. #B2BSales #SalesTwitter #TechSales #revops
Bending Spoons just took its brand-revival playbook (@AOL, @evernote , @Vimeo , @Meetup ) public — stock popped 40% on debut to a $25.7B market cap, 2X+ its private valuation. Turns out the cure for "beloved but dying" is aggressive cost-cutting surgery. Tag the founder still hoping for their acquihire Hail Mary.
Standard broker commission on a coworking deal was 10%. But #WeWork put a bounty on your rival's tenants: 100% commission, first year, if you poached them before the deadline. So brokers stopped selling WeWork , they started hunting for it. 💰🏜️ Spot the stagecoach parked outside the rival's front door. That's not set dressing, that's history. Tag the broker who lived through the year commission went feral. #SalesTwitter #B2BSales #SaaS
The floor where robots cold-call other robots is real now: @Oracle cut 21,000 people (13% of headcount) and named the reason: Microsoft trimmed 5,500 out of SaaS sales and consulting,
and somewhere one human got kept "for the personalized touch."
Tag the SDR who just got promoted to babysitting an agent.
Nothing hits like the first gong. Rookie's first closed-won, the whole floor on its feet, and yes — someone already turned it into a LinkedIn post about fatherhood. Tag the AE who still remembers their first ring.

Sales coaching fails because the feedback is too vague.
"Improve discovery." "Handle objections better."
A rep can agree with all of it and still not know what to change.
One mistake – one fix.
Specific beats broad. Every time.
Our roleplays use https://t.co/Xvt7UrTd1q avatars, and we think roleplay is only useful when it feels real enough that reps respond naturally.
That’s a big part of what makes Yolk different.
