In a few minutes, Nobel Laureates Emmanuelle Charpentier and Jennifer A. Doudna will give their 2020 Nobel Lectures in Chemistry. Find the @NobelPrize live stream here: https://t.co/GamvyCIVAv
I've done 2 zoominars this week. Next week I aim to do 2 more if there is interest? 1.) The search for alien life in the lab. 2.) Discovery with chemputing systems... Both of these lectures are related but come from different sides of the problem of searching chemical space.
It appears we are a week or so behind Italy. A ban on flights from Europe isn’t going to change that. More decisive federal action — massive testing and social distancing — appears to be necessary to “flatten the curve.”
1/25 Part 1 - Why does soap work so well on the SARS-CoV-2, the coronavirus and indeed most viruses? Because it is a self-assembled nanoparticle in which the weakest link is the lipid (fatty) bilayer. A two part thread about soap, viruses and supramolecular chemistry #COVID19
@Dereklowe Just checked their results. The similarity is spurious. Out of 4 inserts they identify between NCov and SARS, 2 are found in bat coronavirus. Of the remaining two, only one is most similar to HIV, and is so short (6 AA) that the similarity is not higher than chance given database
It's clear from this video how many promising lives were cut short. An unspeakable loss for their families, friends, and nations: 82 Iranians, 63 Canadians, 11 Ukrainians, 10 Swedes, four Afghans, three Germans and three British nationals. RIP. https://t.co/tcaE6OD5Qw
Did you already checked our newest paper on Macro Letters? Xiaolian explained there the morphological evolution of multicompartment microparticles by solvent-adsorption annealing. https://t.co/JNZWnIxdOf

A Nature paper shows that droplets containing chain-like liquid crystal molecules transform from spheres into complex shapes such as flowers, corals, and fibrous networks when cooled. https://t.co/yEjptzDeQz
S. arctica is an Ichthyosporean that undergoes several rounds of nuclear duplication without accompanying #cytokinesis to form a coenocyte. The coenocyte then “explodes” and releases hundreds of newborn cells.
We wondered how such #cellularization is achieved? #Video
Recently published in @acsnano: These #SolarCells made with nanowires can tolerate up to 40 times as much high-energy radiation as those made of flat crystalline films. https://t.co/ftTES7PW6n
