If you don't wake up excited and go to bed tired, drop everything and think of what your future will look like if you keep repeating the same day for the rest of your life. Sit with that discomfort until a new direction appears.
Discipline is overrated.
In 21 years of building I have met hundreds of disciplined people going nowhere.
What moves the needle is direction.
A disciplined person running the wrong way just reaches the wrong place faster.
Pick the direction first.
Then earn the discipline.
My favorite @elonmusk quote that I often send friends:
Do not fear losing. “You will lose,” Musk says. “It will hurt the first fifty times. When you get used to losing, you will play each game with less emotion.” You will be more fearless, take more risks.
Procrastination isn't a time problem, it's an emotional escape. Your brain treats hard work as a threat and runs to scrolling for safety. You aren't lazy. You're just letting your survival instincts turn you into a coward.
Imma keep repeating important lines, regardless of how sick everyone gets of them.
“A cursed fact of the world is that the most important life lessons you learn are the hardest to communicate to others because they always sound like clichés.” — Nabeel Qureshi
Be forgiving with your past self. What's done is done. No sense in beating yourself up about it.
Be strict with your present self. Win the moment in front of you right now.
Be flexible with your future self. There are many paths to success. You don't need life to be a certain way to live well.
You make roughly 35,000 decisions every day. By 5 pm, your willpower is entirely depleted. This is why you binge-watch, overeat, text the wrong people at night. Stop trying to out-discipline a tired brain. Structure your environment so you don’t have to choose.
It takes 66 days to build a habit, but only 3 days of slacking to completely kill your momentum. This is why consistency matters. The bridge to an exceptional life is built entirely on the days you didn't feel like showing up.
You only need 1 hour.
1 hour of building. 1 hour of writing. 1 hour of lifting. 1 hour of studying.
1 hour of any form of bettering yourself, because it quickly compounds.
1 hour feels like nothing until you look back 365 hours later and everything's changed.
All you need is a good six months. Half a year of crazy hyper-focus. Train. Avoid distractions. Build your credentials. That's it. Life changes. That's the anatomy of a rags-to-riches story.
I read every day for 30-45 mins.
Have done so for 11 years.
3 books a month.
36-42 a year.
400+ books since I started counting.
People ask me how I find the time.
I do not have time.
I have a non-negotiable.
The difference between time and a non-negotiable is the difference between wishing and doing.
You don't have time.
You make time.
For your non-negotiables.
