Before Shaun Torgeson scooped up Mestemaker's fumble and rushed for 12 yards (for a 3-yard gain), OSU didn't have a rush for more than 5. The next 3 carries went for 17, 18 and 13, the last a TD. Wild times.
How did Oklahoma State's offensive line go from getting pushed around vs Tulsa to a strength of the team?
I asked exactly that this week.

Eric Morris says OL Braydon Nelson will play in “some capacity” on Saturday against UCF, per @PostinsPostcard.
Nelson is listed on the depth chart at both offensive tackle positions, while Shaun Torgeson (left tackle) and Ashton Lepo (right tackle) are expected to start.
“I think you'll see all three of those tackles during the course of this game. Obviously, you know none of those tackles, Torgeson or Lepo, have done anything for us to take them out of the game right now, right?”

Eric Morris still watches the Tulsa loss once a week.
Even after three straight wins, a No. 19 ranking and a completely different-looking Oklahoma State team, Morris hasn't forgotten what happened in Week 1.
“It still keeps me up at night.”
The loss also forced OSU to adapt — including turning to Shaun Torgeson at left tackle, a player Morris now calls another “diamond in the rough.”

If OSU was trying to give off the late '70s, early '80s vibe last night, they could NOT have done a better job! The helmets and unis were spot on, but check out the postgame attire from Shaun Torgeson. I mean, seriously, if that doesn't transport you back to those days, then I don't know what would.
Now all we need is some tight-fitting Riddell Coaches shorts, some burnt orange polyester slacks matched with some pony shoes with a big folded-over flap on them, or a pair of cowboy boots, and a spit cup, and that look has it ALL to a tee.
The mesh trucker hat, high crown, old logo, looks like the shade of orange from that time, and then the toughest sumbeach on the team, reppin' it all!
That's just absolutely awesome...ALL of it! I mean, DAYUM...I think I had the EXACT hat when I was a kid!
Of course, that sumbeach is Shaun Torgeson, who took over at left tackle after the devastating injury to Jacob Sexton, and he's owned it. Torgeson is likely the strongest player on the team, and loves the physical aspects of football.
Think about this for a second!
You're getting ready to play Oregon, a team with maybe the 2 best edge rushers in college football. And you turn over your left tackle spot to an FCS transfer just ONE game into his tenure here. And then he goes out and just kicks their ass all over the field.
I mean, that's just mind-boggling to me!

OSU stayed ahead of the chains for the most part on Saturday, which was a big factor in getting 25 first downs. And that allowed OSU to possess the ball and keep Oregon's offense off the field. OSU consistently won 1st down, and that's such a key to sustaining drives. 2nd and short is a play caller's dream!
And that's because the O-line blocked its ass off!
Check out Shaun Torgeson and Johnny Dickson III on the left side of the line. Torgeson runs his feet and pretty much destroys his defender. And keep in mind, two games ago in his career, he was playing in Oregon, but for an FCS school, Portland State. So this is really kind of mind-bending to see this happen, TBH.
Then Johnny Dickson III scrapes off the double team to climb, turns his butt to the hole, and gives Caleb the lane he needs. Caleb then gets good yards after contact, and when you put all of that together, it sets up 3rd and short.
Well done, men!
This is one of the perfect examples of how physical OSU was on Saturday, how they won the trenches, and how that led to the huge win. #GoPokes #OKState
A player who was so underrated as an offensive lineman in high school that he went to Portland State, OL Shaun Torgeson of St. Bonaventure, played great helping Oklahoma State upset Oregon.
Oklahoma State will start Shaun Torgeson at left tackle against Oregon today, per a source. He's a Portland State transfer who started 12 games there last year. He's expected to rotate today with Desmond Magiya, a North Texas transfer. They will play in place of starter Jacob Sexton, who was lost for the season on the first series against Tulsa.
