@KateSwaffer A right indeed! The Good Life course addresses that, recognising the potential for RECOVERY from the blow of a diagnosis https://t.co/Jh03d533Hx
@KateSwaffer because we have recently come to realise that their beneficiaries are NOT people with dementia. From 1979 they were founded as a carers organisation - heven't ever really veered too far from that.
I don’t know who signed off on that multiple death @alzheimerssoc Society ad but is really misguided.
It starts with a male voice saying his mum not knowing how to cook his roast dinner meant she” was dead”, which sends an awful message on every level, then goes downhill.
My mum died from Alzheimer’s but only once. Everything else was a long goodbye. Painful, devastating but part of the disease.
She didn’t die.
Older people generally deserve dignity, everyone with dementia need it equally
I wish @TimesRadio & any other broadcaster rethinks playing it.
It sends the wrong message IMO
So much in 10 yrs of #MindsandVoices = not bad for a bunch of ‘dead’ people!
On which note we've met & said say goodbye to Liz, Charlie, Rita, Alison, Stuart, Maria Elena, Elaine, Wendy et al who left #DEEP tracks
So, on the shoulders of those giants, ‘Here’s to the next ten!’
Looking back on 10 years of Minds and Voices in the #DEEP network - some great achievements. Like OUR dementia strategy - still valid but yet to be heeded locally! https://t.co/k8gBYCnCv2 check it out @george_rook@GailGre59728262@NorthYorksHCP @M_Wilberforce
We remain super proud of our #Dementiaenquirers project https://t.co/ZPmkwMGMoT the pros, cons & particular needs of those living alone and those with a care partner @Innov_Dementia @elhijodevera
