Challenging conditions at Chennai International airport as cyclone Fengal makes landfall near Puducherry and is likely to cross the Tamil Nadu coasts in the next three to four hours.

The cyclonic storm brought heavy rains in the coastal districts, inundating houses and hospitals.

“Following consultations with AAI Headquarters and considering feedback from stakeholders, it has been decided to extend the closure of operations through a NOTAM (Notice to Airmen) until 0400 IST on 1st December 2024. We recommend passengers check with their respective airlines regarding their flights," Chennai airport said in a statement.

Engine fire breaks out on an Azimuth Sukhoi Superjet 100 after landing at Antalya Airport in Turkey.

Local media reports that the fire was quickly extinguished and that all 79 on board have been evacuated safely.

A statement by the Ministry of Transport and Infrastructure said, "A fire broke out in the engine of the SU95 type aircraft, registered RA89085, belonging to Azimuth Airlines, travelling from Sochi Airport in Russia to Antalya Airport, during landing. After landing at Antalya Airport at 21:34, an emergency call was made by the aircraft pilots due to the fire."
