She and her cousin Jameel Mukhtar were stopped at a red light.

A man walked up.
He threw sulphuric acid through the passenger window, then ran around and threw more through the driver's window.

They crashed. Stripped in the street. Begged for water for 45 minutes.

Resham lost the use of one eye. Lifelong facial scars. She has tried to take her own life.
Jameel was put in an induced coma. Lost hearing in one ear. He told doctors: "I just want to die."

Police initially said no religious motive. They reopened after the family went public. The prosecution still did not pursue it as a hate crime. The judge called it "somewhat random."

That was 2017.

2 August 2025. Bedminster, Bristol.

Alina Burns, 18, walked up behind Mohammed Mahmoodi, a Kurdish-Iranian barber who fled Iran. She swung an axe at his neck. He survived because he ducked.

Five months earlier she had emailed: "Kill all Jews and Muslims in Britain, please."

Police found Telegram contact with Patriotic Alternative. The Turner Diaries. A terrorist handbook. An email titled "The dawn of civil war."

Sentenced: 19½ years. Terrorist connection.

MI5: 25% of the UK counter-terror caseload is extreme right-wing. The Director General says this "skews heavily towards young people."

Burns was 18. Radicalised on Telegram. Connected to Patriotic Alternative.

Antisemitism is real. When the state names it, the response is what it should be.

Golders Green, April 2026: PM on site. Threat level raised to severe. £25m security funding.

Bristol, August 2025: No COBRA. No PM statement. No threat level review. No funding. No statement from the local MP.

Same country. Different response.

And now Rupert Lowe has linked grooming gangs to Islam. Every Muslim in this country has just been made a target by that framing.

And yet the Government will not call it Islamophobia. It says "anti-Muslim hostility." A definition that "focuses on Muslims rather than Islam as a religion."

The community most affected does not get to name what is happening to it.

Muslim Women's Network UK, cited in HC 571: before the 2024 riots, 16% of Muslim women feared for their safety. After: 75%.

MI5 has named the threat. The state has not matched it.
