"A credible family policy will insist that responsibility begins with the individual, then the family, and only then the community, and in the first instance the smaller and nearer rather than the greater and more distant community."--Daniel Patrick Moynihan

We cast our two "no" votes today on the Democratic gerrymander referendum. Of all the bogus statements dominating the massive ad campaign in support of this abomination, "leveling the playing field" may be the worst. Uh, not. Great graphic. Share it over and over.
Please follow this account, and if you're a Virginian, show up between March 6 and April 21 (it's ridiculous we have six weeks of voting for this crap) and vote NO.
“Superintendents are waking up to a new reality: they now lead large, complex orgs in a genuinely competitive, entrepreneurial environment - whether they have chosen it or not.” How they can respond:

Black children in Mississippi are now performing better in reading and math than black children in New York and California-- despite having much higher rates of poverty and spending much less per student.
And the secret was simply not allowing children to move up a grade level unless they can read proficiently.
It turns out that when education is prioritized over woke ideology, the outcomes for our kids are better.

@RahmEmanuel I respect your take but this is inaccurate. 1) Red states are not passing vouchers (no recent policies is one). 2) Executing on the basics works. 3) The mix of choice & execution is the actual reform. 4) blue states are doing the opposite, lowering standards & blocking choice.
Why is the classical education movement gathering so much steam in America right now?
“...as a classical educator, we've got this inner drive for communion with God, the eternal, with each other. And so to connect that to today, right, America 2026 in the last few years, we have got a lot of restless, aching hearts in our culture,” argues Deacon Christopher Roberts, classical education expert and president of Martin Saints Classical High School on today’s edition of “Victor Davis Hanson: In His Own Words” with @jackfowler.

Incredibly disheartening to see @VEA4Kids dismiss legislation that would have ensured 3rd grade students read at grade level before they move to 4th grade.
Just unreal.
After having served several years as an SRO, raising 2 kids in the Virginia public school system, being appointed to help on a Governor’s School Safety Task Force and speaking at one of the meetings, and nearly 20 years as an Active Attack instructor, I can say the following with 100% certainty:
The public education system doesn’t care one iota about your child’s safety
That is all

Honored & grateful to be part of this podcast & this book. Thank you @NealMcCluskey & @shulsie for doing the #edfreedom movement a great service - and allowing me to chip in.
Oh, and when is the sequel coming out?
The value of reading full books isn't in the ability to recall facts or score higher on tests of comprehension.
A book is an experience.
And if you can bring someone to be able to read and understand a book like Crime and Punishment or The Scarlett Letter or 1984, you have helped to provide them with an experience they can't get anywhere else.
To ask what the educative value of reading full books is to miss the point; it would be like asking what the value of a beautiful sunset or a laugh that hurts your belly or the prospect of first love.
It reduces something beautiful to a spreadsheet.
