At 8:30 tonight, the South Carolina Senate Medical Affairs Committee quietly sent out an email announcing that on October 1 at 9:30 a.m., a subcommittee will hear public testimony on Senate Bill S.323.
The 19th Amendment guaranteed women the right to vote. But the truth is, many women, especially Black women in the South, were still denied that right. Today, we honor the suffragettes’ fight and the generations of women who kept pushing until every vote could truly count.
