Putting the positive case for Scotland remaining in the UK. Proudly pro-union. Centre-right leaning. Less about party politics - more about common cause.
Awkward. Speaking in parliament in 2022, John Swinney railed against the economic illiteracy of people suggesting he had the right to spend ringfenced money on other things.
@JinglyLenny@theSNP There is no missing money and @theSNP NEC will , quite properly , consider how to consult party members. The rest is inaccurate speculation. Time for those who have voluntarily chosen another path to give up their obsession with @theSNP’s internal processes
We’ve hit a big landmark – 10 million free breakfasts served.
10 million better days at school – more children turning up, concentrating, getting on.
10 million easier mornings for parents – better drop-offs & commutes.
Change doesn’t happen by chance, it comes with Labour. 🌹
'Perhaps future historians will vaunt Peter Murrell as the Union’s unlikely saviour.
'Nothing destroys a self-righteous political movement faster than discovering that the revolutionaries were quietly stuffing loo rolls into their trolleys whilst hectoring everyone else about responsible behaviour.'

EXCLUSIVE: Nicola Sturgeon refused to give witness statement to SNP fraud probe cops to help their bid to snare her embezzling former husband Peter Murrell

When "men do wrong women always get the blame" says Sturgeon, in her latest lachymose apologia.
But as per the intersectional discourse she espouses, the power relations are surely the wrong way round
She wasn't the hapless victim of misogyny; she was the big boss, the one supposedly punching down.
My substack in replies.
This interview was Nicola Sturgeon’s ‘Andrew Mountbatten-Windsor moment’, and her personal & political reputation will not recover from it. Me for @theipaper.

It is not sexist, never mind 'misogyny' to question Nicola Sturgeon, who presided over the worst era of misogyny in Scotland in my lifetime, and is a cynical mistress of spin. This week's Scotsman column. Enjoy!

Two very important questions here, asked by @BBCJamesCook and @simon_telegraph after FMQs on Thursday, and John Swinney has no answers, only evasions. The chicanery continues. This should be getting much more attention.
If we’ve learned one thing over the last week, it’s that nobody in the SNP knows how to read a set of accounts. They barely even know what accounts are. Which explains why Scot Gov is heading for a fiscal trainwreck, & why the financial case for independence simply doesn’t exist.
