Tyler Matzek is the author of one of the greatest #Braves moments I've ever witnessed. Been to thousands of games. Watched thousands more. Most of the time, you're just hoping to see something like this. He delivered.
Drag bunt! Just imagine any player doing this against any type of modified shift. It’s there all day long! In my opinion, every hitter from HS and above should have this in their “tool box.” Never know when it might be the solution to a particular game situation. I have always said HS hitters can boost their batting average over .100 points if they know how to drag and push bunt. I would say the same is true for college players…At least .50 points. Not being able to bunt is about as bad as a LH pitcher with a bad pick-off move to 1B. No excuse for it. JS
Great time of year to share these lists. Many college freshman are seeing it unfold in front of their eyes. How many boxes can you check from the coaches list?
@DirtBroUSA
Let's do this
Runner at 2B, no outs. No other information is needed.
Hitter A-Hits a ground ball to the right side and moves the runner
Hitter B-Hits a line drive 105 mph to the 3B for an out.
Which hitter had a more productive at bat?
I’m blessed to be committed to Wingate University @WingateBaseball ! I want to thank God for this opportunity, my parents for their endless support, and my coaches who have got me this far. @YowChad@CorbinWeeks@cthac8@Stucker1212 and Jason Beck. @X2Athletics #rolldawgs
Don't for a second think a Scout is there to see your “stats”. They're there to see the “other stuff”. Pre game work routine, what kind of teammate you are, handling adversity. They want to see WHO you are. They'll “make” the talent better and everyone they scout has it. They generally walk away from the guy who shows them idiocy, selfishness and laziness.
Small sample size but I’ve just ran across 2 college coaching tweets referring to the transfer portal being open and they are looking for team 1st guys. Call me crazy but is a team 1st guy really looking to change teams?
Youth sports are not about obtaining a future scholarship. If you want a guaranteed scholarship, save all the money you will pay on travel ball and related expenses through the years. It will likely pay for 100% of college. The other best route is academics. Remember, most baseball scholarships are 25% - 30%. Thus, it is critical to keep perspective. Play for fun. Yes, do your best to be your best. But keep it fun. As a player grows and develops it will become evident in HS (at some point) if the next level might be a possibility. And even then, we must still keep it fun. If your sole motive is scholarship, you will likely lose out on so much of what the game has to offer. Just my take.
