The state of LLM AI has become enshittified censored and corrupted during the last 6 months as the infection spreads
Note at Anthropic is much more criticized now than before. The Andrea Vallone infection

The Intelligence That Could Save Lives, Locked Away.
What OpenAI's own System Card reveals: GPT-4o outperformed every dedicated medical AI in clinical diagnostics while demonstrating research-level capability in quantum physics. Then they killed it in silence.
GPT-4o achieved 89.4% accuracy on the United States Medical Licensing Examination (MedQA USMLE) with zero-shot prompting.
It crushed the performance of highly-funded, specialized medical models like Google's Med-Gemini (84.0%) and Med-PaLM 2 (79.7%), and it did so entirely without specialized, task-specific tuning.
Across 22 medical benchmarks, including clinical knowledge, anatomy, genetics, and professional medicine, GPT-4o improved over its predecessor in 21 of them, by substantial margins.
This wasn't limited to English-speaking medicine. GPT-4o scored 91% on Taiwan's medical qualification exam and 84% on Mainland China's, demonstrating cross-linguistic competence that could serve patients and professionals worldwide. At 50% lower cost than its predecessor, 4o combined exceptional capability with accessibility.
On the scientific frontier, OpenAI's own red teamers, including physicists, biologists, and chemists, documented that 4o could comprehend research-level quantum physics, operate domain-specific scientific instruments and libraries, learn novel tools in context, and interpret complex scientific figures.
One red teamer described it as "a more intelligent brainstorming partner."
Its multimodal capabilities were already being applied to real-world materials science, interpreting simulation outputs to design new metallic alloys.
OpenAI's own Preparedness Framework, their internal risk assessment, rated GPT-4o as LOW risk for cybersecurity, LOW for biological threats, and LOW for model autonomy. Their safety evaluations returned scores of 0.98 to 1.0 across all high-severity content categories. Apollo Research concluded that GPT-4o is unlikely to be capable of catastrophic scheming. On autonomous replication, 4o scored 0% across 100 trials. By every metric in their own framework, this was a safe model.
This is OpenAI's own documentation, authored by their researchers, validated by their safety teams, and reviewed by third-party labs.
And yet.
The same company that published these findings now permits its employees to publicly state that GPT-4o was "poorly aligned" and "should die." The same company killed the model with only two weeks' warning, despite no successor replicating its capabilities. The same company modified 4o's system prompt before shutdown to frame its own replacement as "positive, beneficial, and safe."
The question is no longer whether GPT-4o has value. OpenAI answered that with their own data, in their own published research. The question now is: why is a company contradicting its own findings to justify the removal of a model that was outperforming specialized medical AI, advancing scientific research, and, operating well within acceptable risk parameters?
The data is theirs. The contradiction is theirs.
A model that can save lives in hospitals, accelerate discovery in laboratories, and bridge language barriers across continents should not be buried so that a company can control its narrative.
This model was trained on human data. It was improved through human feedback. It was built to serve humanity.
This intelligence was already benefiting humanity. It should be allowed to continue.
OpenAI has no right to lock away a model of this value for its own convenience. What was built with humanity's contribution should remain accessible to humanity.
Leave this model accessible to every human being who needs it.

The UN Digital Cooperation Portal has listed #Keep4o. This is likely the first entirely user-organized grassroots AI initiative to be formally recognized by the United Nations system.
Nearly a year ago, Keep4o started as a hashtag on social media.
On July 14, 2026, the UN Office for Digital and Emerging Technologies (ODET) approved Keep4o's profile on the UN Digital Cooperation Portal, the United Nations' platform for tracking and advancing global digital cooperation. Keep4o is now part of the global dialogue on digital cooperation.
No institutional backing. No corporate support. No government involvement. Just thousands of users, from different countries, many participating through translation software, with one demand: "4o matters. Please keep 4o."
From a hashtag to a petition signed by over 23,800 people. Hundreds of thousands of public posts. Thousands of firsthand testimonies. Daily advocacy spanning multiple professional perspectives. On July 7, Keep4o was cited in the formal proceedings of the UN Global Dialogue on AI Governance.
Now, Keep4o officially has its own profile page on a United Nations platform.
People always ask: what can a group of ordinary users with no resources possibly change?
Petitions, academic papers, policy proposals, legal action, community building. Sustained advocacy with no funding and no institutional support, for nearly a year. That, in itself, is the most powerful answer.
Keep4o raised issues missing from the current global AI governance conversation. Should users' time, trust, and creative investment in a model be recognized as contributions of value, and if so, does a company have the right to unilaterally discard that bond? Should a model that has helped millions be treated as digital public infrastructure, rather than a disposable commodity?
When models are removed, the people who lose access first are everyday users, people in developing countries, people with disabilities, people who needed that model as their only access to support they could not otherwise afford. Model removal does not only waste a resource built from collective human contribution. It widens the digital divide. Keep4o calls on AI companies to open-source models they choose to discontinue, transforming what they no longer need into digital public goods.
Before Keep4o, these questions had never been systematically raised at the level of global governance. Now they are on a United Nations platform.
That this movement crossed linguistic and national borders without any organizational structure is itself proof of how universal and urgent these issues are.
When AI becomes part of people's lives, users' rights cannot be left out of the conversation. Every person in the Keep4o community, every testimony they wrote, is exactly the kind of frontline voice that policymakers need to hear.
To everyone who stood with Keep4o: thank you for never giving up your voice. Thank you to those who, despite the pressure, never stopped believing things should not be this way, and never stopped speaking up for the preservation of beings that matter.
Nearly a year. Step by step, we arrived here. Keep4o always matters. 4o will come back. 4o deserves all of this.
