Why do tank Active Protection Systems (APS) struggle against drones?
APS radars are designed to avoid false alarms and reduce clutter, so they usually apply filtering criteria, including minimum target speed. Slow-moving targets such as FPV drones may be rejected as clutter.

Today's "Odd Tank" is 🇿🇦 South Africa's 'Olifant Mk.1B Optimum'

Developed in the late 1990's into the early 2000's, the Optimum prototype was a heavily modernized Centurion MBT.
The Turret was an all new design which used lighter ceramic composite armor compared to the all steel original Centurion turret. It had new internal digital systems, blowout panels and a mechanized ready-rack which improved the ergonomics for the loader, increasing the fire rate.
The tank was also supposed to have a 1040hp engine in the final production model, but the prototype never mounted this and instead used an 850hp engine.

The main armament is a 105mm GT-8 Rifled Gun.
