Eager @sos_bangor_uni MSc students getting the CTD spiel from the School's Head Engineer Ben Powell as we head out for a day of teaching on the Prince Madog
At this difficult time in history, it's worth remembering that nature still has and will continue to have the power to astound us and bring us joy with its beauty. #auroraborealis from my bedroom window tonight.
Delighted to join this dynamic & wonderful new cohort of @sos_bangor_uni lectures!
Excited to work with & enthuse students during their scientific journey on all aspects of our underwater world, the pressures which threaten these & how we can effect change for a better world 🌎
@helenafricker @newscientist I'm with @helenafricker. This is NOT the way, destroying snow for a little bit more ice thickness? Unscaleable, irresponsible, will interfere with cloud formation. No no no. I declined to comment on this when it was a glint in someone's well-meaning eye. How did it get so far?
@KayMcmonigal I know at AMS they have also had trouble retaining adequate numbers of production staff. So all the non-academic parts of the process have also been slowed down recently
Anyone who can go to this event certainly should do so! @icey_mark has so much expertise, knowledge and a real gift in sharing it with us all that it will doubtless be as awe-inspiring as the polar regions themselves!
Join us as we kick off our Inspiring People talks programme on Monday 16th September, with Professor Mark Brandon speaking in Kirkcaldy and Glasgow about the beauty of the poles, why we should save them, and how we can do it.

I am excited to share my #ToolsoftheTrade on "Autonomous underwater gliders to observe the ocean" with @NatRevEarthEnv@SpringerNature. It's a short review on how we use gliders to observe and monitor the changing ocean!
📢 Have a look! https://t.co/7TC9WPES2l
What a fun and productive week hanging out with the cheesetastic #QUICCHE crowd in the Kristineberg Marine Station, Sweden. Thank you again for all the amazing organisation @PolarGliders!
