Kukis claimed the violence on May 3rd 2023 began when a group of drunk Zomis approached the Anglo-Kuki War Centenary Gate & caused trouble. The local KUKI leader tried to intervene but was beaten by them.The kuki youths present not wanting to escalate tensions between brothers chose not to retaliate. "After all, we are brothers," they thought.
