I went to a baseball game in Osaka. Hanshin Tigers. I'm not even a baseball fan really, but someone told me Japanese baseball games were a different experience.
They were right. The cheering was insane. Coordinated chants, everyone knew the songs, people brought instruments. It was like a festival.
I was sitting in the outfield, cheap seats. Didn't know any of the cheers, just clapped along trying not to look too lost.
The guy next to me noticed and during the 7th inning stretch, he handed me a little pamphlet. It had all the cheers written out in English with the romaji so I could pronounce the Japanese.
He'd made it himself. Printed it out. For random foreigners sitting near him.
I asked how many of these he'd made and he pulled out like 10 more from his bag. Said he brings them to every game just in case tourists sit nearby.
Didn't want money, didn't want anything. I just wanted people to enjoy the game properly.
With his help I learned the chant for the cleanup hitter. Next time that guy came up to bat, I did the full chant, arms motions and everything. The people around me noticed and started clapping for me, laughing in a good way.
The Tigers lost that game, but the guy next to me said "you are a Tigers fan now. Once you cheer for the Tigers, always be a Tigers fan."
He was right. I still check their scores sometimes. I hope they're doing okay this season.
Pretty wild update on AnimEigo’s Vampire Princess Miyu release that was announced back in February 2025:
“Well over a year ago, waaaay back in February 2025, we announced the restored HD Blu-ray release of Vampire Princess Miyu. And since then... nothing. What happened?
Welp, we finished the disc, and sent the packaging off to Japan for it to get approved, which is a requirement when you work with anime professionally. We had some good back-and-forth initially, but ultimately we simply could not get this approval to the finish line. Due to the way the copyright system works over there, we hit a procedural log jam. We’ve made absolutely no progress in over a year.
We’ve done everything we could think of to rectify the situation, but unfortunately, this is not going to get fixed. Worse, we discovered that our contract for the show (which we inherited from the previous owners of AnimEigo), ran out much sooner than we expected: next year. That means that we’re basically out of time to do a proper release.
But we had this gorgeous HD remaster of a gorgeous show, just sitting there. The wall we hit with approvals would likely make it impossible for anyone to release it in the future. What a waste!
So we’re doing something ridiculous. We’re releasing this disc on our own site, without artwork or design to approve. Yes, it’s a completely blank cover.”

We need your help!!
Hi everyone, huge announcement here, I'm super happy to say that our Kickstarter for the Indie Game we've been putting so much time and love into for the past few years is up! If you want to help support any of the work I've been putting in, it would mean the world to me and the dev team if you checked out our project and considered backing the project. Even a tiny bit helps, and if not that, if you like the game, a wishlist on steam would be enough.
I try my best to go through life never asking my friends, family, or supporting people for anything, as that's how i've always been. But if I could ask for any help now, it would be to help us finish developing this game that we are putting so many hours into!
If you can help at all, I would be eternally grateful. Thank you for reading, places to go are below!
